Journal of Informatics and Web Engineering
In wireless networks, handover performance is essential for enabling real-time traffic applications. Long handover delays make it impossible for a Mobile Node (MN) to send and receive data packets, which is very undesirable for real-time applications like video conferencing and VoIP. Therefore, in order to guarantee better handover performance, decreasing handover duration is crucial. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has standardized Fast Proxy Mobile IPv6 (FPMIPv6) as an enhancement to the novel Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) to attain better handover performance. FPMIPv6 functions in two modes: predictive and reactive, using a link-layer triggering mechanism. The predictive mode uses link-layer …

This study addresses the critical challenge of detecting duplicate final year project (FYP) titles in academic institutions, where minor variations like reordering, synonyms, and paraphrasing often obscure plagiarism. We systematically evaluate four string similarity algorithms - Jaro-Winkler, Levenshtein Edit Distance, TF-IDF with Cosine Similarity, and Jaccard Similarity - using a synthetic dataset of 250 title pairs representing common duplication patterns. Our experiments reveal that character-based methods (Jaro-Winkler and Edit Distance) achieve perfect detection (F1-score=1.0) for literal matches, including typographical variations and phrase reordering. At the same time, TF-IDF demonstrates strong semantic capability (F1-score=0.95), albeit with some false positives. Jaccard Similarity …

Cyberbullying on social networking sites has become more prevalent. Most cyberbullying detection models often lack consideration of adversarial threads, leaving them vulnerable. This study evaluates the resilience of text-based cyberbullying detection models, constrained by limited available datasets, against word-level substitutions and character-level perturbations. We consider well-established ML techniques with real-world data and more recent LLM-based approaches to uncover model weaknesses. The results reveal that adversarial attacks can significantly reduce detection accuracy, e.g., most models are vulnerable to word- and character-level attacks with success rates up to 88% and 44%, respectively. We also find that LLM-based models such as CyberBERT are …

Sagan, an astronomer, popularized the cosmic perspective to promote planetary stewardship, while Zimbardo, a social psychologist, used compelling methodologies to explore the psychological underpinnings of cruelty and heroism. Both were, in their own ways, heroic in their commitment to making science accessible, employing storytelling and mass media to render complex concepts understandable and relevant, thereby expanding the societal relevance of their disciplines. However, their …
A Bdg Inequality For Stochastic Volterra Integrals, Alexandre Pannier
A Bdg Inequality For Stochastic Volterra Integrals, Alexandre Pannier
Journal of Stochastic Analysis
We establish Burkholder-Davis-Gundy-type inequalities for stochastic Volterra integrals with a completely monotone convolution kernel, which may exhibit singular behaviour at the origin. When the supremum is taken over a finite interval, the upper bound depends linearly on the Lγ-norm of the kernel, for any γ > 2. We demonstrate the utility of this inequality in quantifying the pathwise distance between two stochastic Volterra equations with distinct kernels, with a particular emphasis on the multifactor Markovian approximation. For kernels that decay sufficiently fast, we derive an alternative inequality valid over an infinite time interval, providing uniformin- time bounds for mean-reverting stochastic Volterra …
