Determination Of The Proper Mixtures Of Ellis County Soils For Adobe Construction, Buster W. Read May 1948

Determination Of The Proper Mixtures Of Ellis County Soils For Adobe Construction, Buster W. Read

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

The purpose of this investigation was to determine whether the soils of Ellis County could be used to form waterproof soil blocks that might be used for construction. In the investigation eight soils found in the county were employed and several stabilizers added to each in varying amounts to determine if the specific soils could be rendered waterproof. Several types of paint finishes were tested. The work was divided into three main parts: (1) Survey of Ellis County Soils; (2) Selection of soil material with respect to shrinkage; and (3) Treatment of soils with respect to waterproofing.

Manganese Oxide Deposits Near Butte And Development Since 1942, Emmett M. Gilmore May 1948

Manganese Oxide Deposits Near Butte And Development Since 1942, Emmett M. Gilmore

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

The manganese minerals occur in the peripheral zone of the Butte district with quartz in veins, which at depth contain galena and sphalerite closely associated with silver-bearing minerals. The manganese oxides are all oxidation products formed by weathering of primary rhodochrosite or rhodonite.

Geology And Ore Deposits Of The Salt Chuck-Rush And Brown Mine Area Prince Of Wales Island, Alaska, Judson H. Whitman May 1948

Geology And Ore Deposits Of The Salt Chuck-Rush And Brown Mine Area Prince Of Wales Island, Alaska, Judson H. Whitman

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

The Salt Chuck, Rush and Brown, and adjacent mines and claims form an area of approximately 15 square miles near the head of Kasaan Bay about 10 miles northwest of the village of Kasaan on Prince of Wales Island in southeastern Alaska. It is an area of moderate relief in which the hills rise from the water’s edge to heights of some 500 feet. Most of the area is covered with dense vegetation and muskeg.

A Discussion Of The Geology And An Isopach Map Of The Pennsylvanian System In Wyoming And Adjacent Areas, B. R. Alto May 1948

A Discussion Of The Geology And An Isopach Map Of The Pennsylvanian System In Wyoming And Adjacent Areas, B. R. Alto

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

Pennsylvanian strata in Wyoming and adjacent areas have been the subject of much work and discussion. Most of the work has been due to the economic importance of the system as an oil producer in this region. Oil production from strata of Pennsylvanian age is rather recent history; and therefore, much of the available information is localized and incomplete.

Flotation Concentration Of A Montana Lead-Zinc-Silver-Ore, Grover W. Gregson May 1948

Flotation Concentration Of A Montana Lead-Zinc-Silver-Ore, Grover W. Gregson

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

The Mike Horse mine, in the Huddelston mining district, is fifty-two miles northwest of Helena, Montana. The mine was discovered in 1898 by Joseph Heitmiller. There was only minor production from the date of discovery until 1915; the main drawback being lack of good road.

Roasting And Leaching Of Montana Chromite, Jerry D. Murphy May 1948

Roasting And Leaching Of Montana Chromite, Jerry D. Murphy

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

The United States, although the leading consumer of chromite, depends almost entirely on imports for its supply. Domestic production of chromite is limited, because high-grade imported ore is plentiful and inexpensive in normal times. There are several large deposits of chromite in the United States, representing millions of tons of low grade ore. These deposits form a strategic reserve that must be used in time of national emergency.

Geology Of Montana, Stanley G. Olson May 1948

Geology Of Montana, Stanley G. Olson

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

A vast amount of information has been published by many workers on particular features of the geology of the state of Montana, as well as on local geology of many smaller divisions. However, a satisfactory summary of the geology in general, which would include all phases of geology as they apply to the greater area of the entire state, has not been published.

Conductance Of Organic Nitrogen Compounds At Their Melting Points, Leonard Joseph Burant May 1948

Conductance Of Organic Nitrogen Compounds At Their Melting Points, Leonard Joseph Burant

Bachelors’ Theses

Even though there are many practical applications using the conductance of fused salts, such as the commercial preparation of aluminum, sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium, there is very little in the literature on such conductance.

Because organic compounds as a class do not conduct as well as acids, bases, and salts, even less attention has been paid to the conductance of organic compounds in the fused state. Since the author has had some experience with organic preparations, it seemed worth while to prepare certain types of related heterocyclic organic compounds and to test their conductance in the fused state.

An Investigation Of Age-Hardening In A Commercial Copper-Beryllium Alloy, Terry Horne Apr 1948

An Investigation Of Age-Hardening In A Commercial Copper-Beryllium Alloy, Terry Horne

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

This investigation is concerned with the age-hardening process as exemplified by the aging of a commercial Cu-Be alloy and, in particular, with this process as determined by X-ray methods. The amount of information available on age-hardening of commercial alloys is scanty and what information there is, is inaccurate.

Nebraska Tractor Tests

All tractors tested at the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory were certified by their manufacturers as being stock model machines, conforming to specifications filed with the application for test. No special or high-test fuels were used except as recommended by the manufacturer as necessary.

All results within the official tractor test report were actually attained in tests and are without correction or allowances for friction, temperature, altitude, etc. The results were initially accomplished with the tractor in charge of skilled operators employed by the University.

Unless otherwise noted, each tractor was apparently in good condition at the end of the testing …
