Exploring Barriers And Consequences Related To Nurses Reporting Child Abuse, Asmita Devkota
Honors Undergraduate Theses
Background: Child abuse is a pervasive and serious problem in the United States. Over 3 million children are the victims of some kind of physical assault by adults. Developing And Implementing A Quality Assurance Strategy For Electroconvulsive Therapy, Jessa Hollingsworth
Developing And Implementing A Quality Assurance Strategy For Electroconvulsive Therapy, Jessa Hollingsworth
Theses and Dissertations
The literature provides scant guidance in effective quality assurance strategies concerning the use of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for the treatment of psychiatric conditions. Numerous guidelines are published that provide guidance in the delivery of care, however, little has been done to determine how a program or facility might ensure compliance to best practice for safety, tolerability, and efficacy in performing ECT. The objective of this project was to create a quality assurance strategy specific to ECT. Determining standards for quality care and clarifying facility policy were key outcomes in establishing an effective quality assurance strategy. An audit tool was developed …

Hedonic Mechanisms Of Weight Changes In Medication Assisted Treatment For Opioid Addiction, Elizabeth Mcdonald
Graduate College Dissertations and Theses
Opioid abuse and addiction affects more than 2.4 million people in the United States. Medication assisted treatment (MAT), in combination with counseling, is recognized as the most effective treatment for patients with opioid dependence and abuse. Although MAT is considered the most effective treatment, previous research has found clinically significant weight gain with methadone. The purpose of this study was to determine if hedonic eating behaviors, sugar cravings, and addictive like eating was related to weight gain in opioid addicted patients receiving methadone and buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone™). Hedonic eating behaviors were measured using three validated surveys. Following survey collection, a chart …
