Although the Western church knows little of these ventures, Russian Orthodoxy in fact has a rich missionary heritage. There have been instances of great courage, passion, and cultural sensitivity in Orthodox attempts to bring the Gospel to the Muslim peoples. I outline here some of the context and features of these missionary endeavors.

Parallel Structures: Challenges And Opportunities, Bruce L. Bauer

This article presents a case study of the Vietnam house-church movement, looking at the challenges and opportunities that often exist when security concerns and governmental persecution force the creation of a parallel structure through which God can work. The article suggests ways to maintain administrative linkage and supervision between parallel structures and gives several reasons why parallel structures may be necessary in our present sinful world.

The world is becoming an urban society. The urban expansion witnessed during the twentieth century and continuing into the twenty-first century is unprecedented in the history of the human civilization. Simultaneously, the Western world faces the paradigm shift from the modern era to a postmodern condition. Both movements have remarkable implications for the mission of the church in urbanized, postmodernizing societies. Shaped by the modern worldview, the church is now further ostracized by the postmodern condition.

This study attempts to explore the biblical foundation ofsalvific mission as revealed in God's purposes for the nations (missio Dei ) in the book of Daniel and to investigate the means that Daniel employed in his ministry as an overt missionary who was sent to witness to God's salvific purpose in the cross-cultural context of heathen kingdoms.

Christian denominations and mission agencies use different structural models for doing world mission. This article discusses four models and the ecclesiological and practical implications of each for Adventist world mission. The current structural model is analyzed and suggestions are made for adjusting it to better fulfill Adventist world mission in the contemporary context.

This article will propose a storied, big-picture approach to multiethnic ministry. It will advocate curriculum that builds a cathedral rather than isolated rooms. In the Spring of 2000, Dr. Eddie Gibbs was installed in the Donald McGavran Chair of Church Growth at Fuller School of World Mission. His appointment followed the retirement of C. Peter Wagner from the chair in 1999.
