In a free society the sermon is a prevalent type of public speech. Its wide usage as a means of propagating ideas has been a powerful force in making and keeping this nation predominantly religious. The importance of pulpit oratory is further appreciated when viewed from a numerical standpoint. There are over 15 million sermons preached each year in the 866,000 congregations of church members in this nation.

Physical education has made unusually rapid progress during the past 50 years. Emphasis has deviated from absolute academic objectives to those permitting a well rounded educational program including the physical aspect. Physical education has been influenced by educational, spiritual, political, and social conditions.
As a result of these influences, the necessity of developing the physical has assumed major proportions. There is now a greater demand for physical education than ever before in the history of our country. The problems of personnel placement and vocational choice at some time concern nearly everyone, as the employer or as the employee. Many people drift into their occupations, others shift from one wrong choice to another, while a large number are defeated by the struggle for success in an occupation for which they are not fitted. The mere placement of a worker on a job does not guarantee job success or interest in that job. In many cases no consideration is made of interests, general abilities, or special aptitudes, and even with a perfect diagnosis of these factors vocational choice still …
