Types Of Behavior During Labor And Delivery And Scores On The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, Bette Gloria Winthers

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

Purpose of the Study

The thesis of this study is that personality characteristics can be shown as factors in the variation of behavior which occurs during labor and childbirth. It is felt that if personality traits can be measured by a standard device they will correlate with various types of behavior expressed during labor. The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory is one instrument which tests all of the more important phases of personality. This test was chosen as the device to be used in this study to determine the personality traits of the women involved. Therefore, the purpose of this study …

Interest Patterns For Four Occupations: Kuder Preference Record, Barbara Swensen Baer May 1953

Interest Patterns For Four Occupations: Kuder Preference Record, Barbara Swensen Baer

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

The problems of personnel placement and vocational choice at some time concern nearly everyone, as the employer or as the employee. The mere placement of a worker on a job does not guarantee job success or interest in that job. In many cases no consideration is made of interests, general abilities, or special aptitudes, and even with a perfect diagnosis of these factors vocational choice still …

The Relationship Between Altitude – I.Q. Discrepancy And Anxiety, Claire Kepler Purcell, John Drevdahl, Kenneth Purcell Jan 1952

The Relationship Between Altitude – I.Q. Discrepancy And Anxiety, Claire Kepler Purcell, John Drevdahl, Kenneth Purcell

Psychologists who believe that the G factor is an ability argue for the use of the IQ as a reference point while those who believe that it is a capacity use altitude as a reference point. In regarding intelligence as a …

An Investigation Of The Value Of Auditory Training In The Education Of Deaf Children, Martha Yattaw Walker Jan 1952

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

For over a quarter of a century a difference of opinion has existed regarding the relative value of auditory training in the education of the deaf child. The opponents have insisted that in most deaf children there is little or no residual hearing on which to use acoustic stimulation. The proponents have insisted that there are extremely few deaf children who do not have some residual hearing which could be stimulated to promote better speech, to increase speech perception, and to advance better mental health.

The purpose of this study has been (1) to investigate (a) the development of speech …
