Social media detoxification has emerged as a strategy for enhancing well-being. This study investigates the effects of social media detox on the psychological well-being and academic performance of students. A total of 361 medical students participated in this study. After obtaining formal consent, the participants completed a structured survey administered in a controlled setting. The survey included sections on demographics, patterns of social media use (e.g., time spent, platforms accessed, and primary motivations), and standardized psychological assessment scales. Many professional organizations publish clinical practice guidelines for the use of probiotics in gastrointestinal disorders. Generally, no two guidelines align perfectly, and some differ markedly. These discrepancies occur because clinical practice guidelines are not purely mechanical outputs of data synthesis. They are shaped by structured interpretation, value judgments, and predefined thresholds for uncertainty. US Army body composition policies (AR 600-9 and recent directives) are essential for military readiness, injury prevention, and force health protection, yet implementation gaps persist, particularly with the 2026 Department of Defense (DoD)-mandated waist-to-height ratio (WHtR < 0.55) transition. This DNP project evaluated policy implementation effectiveness at Brooke Army Medical Center using the W.K. Kellogg Foundation Logic Model and CFIR 2.0 framework. Analysis of 2022–2025 de-identified administrative data and 16 stakeholder questionnaires identified ≥10 implementation gaps, including low awareness of new standards and workload impacts. The project developed 8 evidence-based recommendations and an implementation roadmap to improve compliance, optimize resources, reduce administrative burden, and strengthen military readiness.

Background: Ambulatory hypertension is associated with elevated left ventricular mass index (LVMI), cardiac dysfunction, and increased arterial stiffness in adolescents. Whether the addition of measures of BP variability improves the prediction of subclinical cardiovascular target organ damage (TOD) over mean BP measures is not known.

Methods: We assessed clinic and ambulatory BP (ABP), anthropometrics, and TOD in 397 adolescents. ABP means standard deviation (SD), BP, and heart rate (HR) dipping were calculated; coefficients of variability (CV) were calculated (SD/mean) to assess ABP variabilities. BACKGROUND: There are few prospective studies of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) versus cyclophosphamide (CYC) for pediatric lupus nephritis (pLN) and none evaluating rituximab (RTX).

METHODS: The Prospective Pediatric Lupus Nephritis Registry (ProPeL-R) enrolled patients <  21 years within 4 weeks of an initial kidney biopsy diagnostic of pLN. Demographic, clinical, and laboratory data were collected prospectively at enrollment, 3 months, 6 months, and then every 6 months thereafter for up to 5 years of follow-up. For this study, we compared patients receiving initial therapy with corticosteroids (CS) and either MMF (n = 33) vs. CYC (n = 18), and those treated with CS, either MMF or CYC, with RTX (n = 20) vs. without RTX (n = 51).

RESULTS: Histology consisted of 18% class III; 35% class IV; 25% mixed class; and 22% pure class V. Eighty-two percent were female. No significant differences in response or infection rates were identified between those receiving MMF or CYC. Black race and Hispanic ethnicity are associated with higher mortality in severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) following hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), though mechanisms remain unclear. We evaluated 796 children with SCID who received nonsibling HCT between 1982 and 2020 using data from the Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium. Overall survival for Black (aHR 2.47, 95%CI 1.64, 3.71) and Asian/Pacific Islander patients (aHR 1.82, 95%CI 1.00, 3.30) was significantly lower compared with non-Hispanic White patients, while Hispanic patients had lower event-free survival (aHR 1.83, 95%CI 1.27, 2.63) compared with non-Hispanic White patients. The rise in use of herbal and dietary supplements, which are regulated as food rather than as drugs by the Food and Drug Association, poses the risk of unknown and potentially severe side effects. We describe the case of acute liver injury, characterized by significant elevation in AST and ALT, likely induced by the consumption of an over-the-counter supplement containing alpha lipoic acid (ALA). Our patient trusted in a “natural” alternative to Western medicine for management of neuropathy, which was ultimately detrimental to her liver. Despite increasing recognition, data on gender-based differences in SCAD presentation and outcomes remain limited, particularly in South Asian populations.

Methods: This retrospective case series included 24 patients diagnosed with SCAD at Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) between January 2022 and March 2025. In this research, an innovative lead compound C6 was created and docked toward Janus Kinase1 (JAK1). The docking process was confirmed by re-docking of the co-crystallized ligand MI1 (Tofacitinib). Respiratory processes are increasingly implicated in shaping neural activity and behavior. Recent studies have reported a coupling between respiratory phase and the cortical readiness potential (RP), suggesting that breathing may modulate the neural processes preceding voluntary action. Here, using electroencephalography recordings in humans, we re-examine this claim using the original dataset and a new independent dataset, as well as in simulated data with no coupling. We show that the reported association arises from a confound: both RP amplitude and respiratory phase are coupled to movement onset. BACKGROUND: Coverage of obesity pharmacotherapy for youth varies substantially across state Medicaid programs. This variability limits access to evidence-based treatment for pediatric obesity. The Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) benefit is a federally mandated Medicaid provision requiring coverage of medically necessary services for individuals under age 21, even when such services are not included in standard state Medicaid benefits. Despite its broad scope, EPSDT remains underutilized due to limited awareness and operational complexity.

Background: Based on renal injury reported in critically ill and septic patients, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a black box warning regarding hydroxyethyl starch (HES 130/0.4) use in 2013 and expanded the warning to surgical and trauma patients in 2021. Similarly, the European Medicines Agency initiated withdrawal of hydroxyethyl starch in 2022. This study was a new meta-analysis focused on renal injury designed to complement a 2021 meta-analysis of perioperative hydroxyethyl starch use, adding 45 trials and 6,895 patients. The focus was acute kidney injury and preoperative-to-postoperative change in creatinine concentration in surgical patients.

Soft tissue sarcomas (STS) are rare malignant tumors of mesenchymal origin, representing less than 1% of adult cancers. Approximately half arise in the extremities, most often presenting as a painless, enlarging mass. Symptoms are often misattributed to benign neuropathic or musculoskeletal causes, leading to delayed diagnosis and treatment. Neurological deficits such as foot drop or distal weakness are exceptionally uncommon presenting signs and generally indicate advanced local invasion or compression of major peripheral nerves. Recognizing acute neuromotor compromise as a potential manifestation of soft tissue malignancy is crucial for timely oncologic evaluation and limb-sparing management.

Acute calcific tendinitis of the longus colli (LCT) is a rare, benign condition that frequently mimics retropharyngeal abscesses (RPA), a true surgical emergency. We present a 34-year-old woman presenting with 4 days of severe posterior neck pain, stiffness, and odynophagia. Initial evaluation revealed significantly elevated inflammatory markers (erythrocyte sedimentation rate [ESR] 113 mm/hr, C-reactive protein [CRP] 128 mg/L) and leukocytosis, raising immediate concern for deep neck infection. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) leads to progressive functional impairment and considerable economic burden. This study estimated the annual (12-month) cost per patient among patients with RA and its determinant factors. A descriptive cross-sectional economic study of RA patients who had been treated for at least one year at the outpatient clinic of a national referral hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia, and met the 2010 ACR–EULAR criteria. Background: Accurate evaluation of craniofacial anatomy is essential for diagnostic planning. Variations of the styloid process (SP) provide anatomical data that guide evidence-based clinical and surgical decisions in the head and neck region.

Methods: Retrospective cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans retrieved from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology were examined. SP length, medial angles, calcification patterns, and the radiomorphometric index were assessed.
