Urinary calculi are commonly encountered in veterinary practice; however, information regarding their distribution of stone that underwent analysis and associated clinical findings remains limited. This study investigated the distribution of urolithiasis and the associations between stone types and clinical and laboratory findings in dogs and cats presented to the Chulalongkorn Small Animal Teaching Hospital between 2020 and 2024. The three most common stone types in both species were calcium oxalate (CaOx), struvite, and urate, with relatively stable trends over the 5-year period. We report the generation and propagation of not only the first heritable transgenic schistosome line but also a line that secretes a functional therapeutic protein in vivo. Using multiplexed CRISPR/Cas-mediated homology-directed knock-in targeted to a predicted genomic safe-harbor, we inserted a VHH-IgG1 Fc (termed C5-Fc) transgene into Schistosoma mansoni eggs. Single-miracidium infections of Biomphalaria glabrata yielded parental P0 lines; serial passage through snail and mouse hosts produced an F2 cohort in which all parasites carried the C5-Fc transgene and secreted C5-Fc into the murine venous circulation. The purpose of this perspective paper is to present a translational approach aimed at identifying the critical periods in brain development during which to provide neuroprotective and neurorestorative strategies, followed by prehensile training, to minimize hemiparesis and foster skill acquisition after asymmetrical perinatal brain injury (APBI). We contend that hemiparesis could be minimized after APBI through a multimodal sequential approach based on timely implementation of evidence-based intervention strategies. Early life stress (ELS) sensitizes individuals to subsequent stressors to increase lifetime risk for psychiatric disorders. Within the nucleus accumbens (NAc)-a key limbic and reward-associated brain region-ELS sensitizes both cellular and transcriptional response to later stress, which are programmed by enduring epigenetic changes. BACKGROUND: Adalimumab is widely used for hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), but treatment durability varies and predictors of sustained benefit remain uncertain.

OBJECTIVE: To identify clinical and laboratory factors associated with adalimumab treatment durability in HS.

METHODS: We retrospectively studied 135 adults with HS who initiated adalimumab as first biologic therapy across three academic centers from 2013 to 2023. Outcomes were categorized as primary failure (12-24 weeks), secondary failure (24 weeks-2 years), or sustained response (>2 years) based on discontinuation for inefficacy. Parkinson's disease is characterized by dopaminergic neuron loss and accumulation of α-synuclein aggregates in the brain. G51D α-synuclein knock-in mice provide a genetically and clinically relevant model of disease, exhibiting early olfactory deficits, age-dependent motor impairment, and progressive phospho-α-synuclein accumulation. In multiple Parkinson's disease models, striatal cholinergic and parvalbumin interneurons, as well as astrocytes, lose primary cilia and the neurotrophic signaling needed to sustain dopaminergic neurons. We show here that G51D α-synuclein mice share these phenotypes. Phospho-Ser129 α-synuclein accumulation correlates with cilia loss in cholinergic interneurons but not in spiny projection neurons that accumulate higher phospho-α-synuclein levels. Alginate-based hydrogels are widely used as biocompatible scaffolds. However, their limited cell-adhesive properties restrict their application in tissue engineering. This study aimed to fabricate acemannan/alginate (ACE/ALG) composite hydrogels and evaluate their cytocompatibility and ability to support STO cell spreading and metabolic activity. Composite hydrogels were prepared by blending different concentrations of ACE with alginate, followed by Ca²⁺-mediated ionic crosslinking. Rheological analysis showed that ACE incorporation increased both the storage modulus (G′) and loss modulus (G″) of the hydrogels. Contamination of chicken meat with antimicrobial-resistant bacteria, particularly multidrug-resistant (MDR), colistin-resistant, and extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli (E. coli), threatens its safety for human consumption. This study was conducted to determine the prevalence and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) profiles, particularly ESBL production and colistin resistance in E. coli isolated from retail chicken meat in fresh markets in Bangkok, Thailand.
