Towable watersports are activities where a participant is being pulled by a motorized watercraft while wearing or holding onto a floating device. Watersports come with many known risks such as drowning, whiplash, and fatigue; however, other injuries are often overlooked or misunderstood. With this thesis, I aimed to explore injury records pertaining to towable watersports and attempted to identify prevalent injury trends in wakeboarding, waterskiing, and water tubing. Using the National Electronic Injury Survey System (NEISS), a public database with yearly injury records, I compiled information related to the relevant sports from 2013 to 2022. Since 2011, the national average passage rate has decreased from 89.1% to 84.1% in 2021 (NBCRNA, 2023). Yamaguchi’s 2022 study revealed that students are positively impacted academically when they implement individual learning preferences. The size of the human head is highly heritable, but genetic drivers of its variation within the general population remain unmapped. We perform a genome-wide association study on head size (N = 80,890) and identify 67 genetic loci, of which 50 are novel. Neuroimaging studies show that 17 variants affect specific brain areas, but most have widespread effects. Gene set enrichment is observed for various cancers and the p53, Wnt, and ErbB signaling pathways. Genes harboring lead variants are enriched for macrocephaly syndrome genes (37-fold) and high-fidelity cancer genes (9-fold), which is not seen for human height variants. Head size …

Due to growing health disparities in underserved communities, a comprehensive approach is needed to train physicians to work effectively with patients who have cultures and belief systems different from their own. To address these complex healthcare inequities, Rowan-Virtua SOM implemented a new curriculum, The Tensegrity Curriculum, designed to expand beyond just teaching skills of cultural competence to include trainees' exploration of cultural humility. The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the Singh Thattha beard covering technique when quantitatively fit testing tight-fitting filtering face masks (N95 respirators) on male members of the Sikh religious group. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sikh healthcare workers faced the difficult decision of either shaving their unshorn beards to continue their profession or finding alternative solutions to maintain adequate respiratory protection. This case highlights the urgency of considering acute leukemic transformation in young patients presenting with neurological deficits, emphasizing the importance of prompt evaluation and management to optimize patient outcomes. The case depicted is a tragic complication of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) and its acute blast crisis. Angioedema is defined as a non-pitting edema that involves the subcutaneous layer and additionally may include submucosal layers of tissue which pertain to the face, oral cavity, larynx, lips, extremities and gastrointestinal tract; this becomes a life-threatening situation particularly when there is involvement of the larynx. Angioedema may be classified as either histamine-mediated or bradykinin-mediated. Histamine-mediated, associated with mast-cell and basophil activation, is the most common. Bradykinin-mediated (secondary to hereditary, acquired C1-inhibitor deficiency, ACEI-associated angioedema) occur when an allergic reaction and hives will not trigger this reaction. Due to recess’ discretionary nature, psychosocial variables associated with PA are predictors of students’ PA levels. The objective approach is fundamentally different from the standard subjective visual assessment that professionals in the dental field using the Basic Erosive Wear Evaluation (BEWE) method.

Twenty-nine hyposalivation and three control subjects were used in this longitudinal study, for a total of 597 samples (only 577 teeth were eligible for surface texture analysis) evaluated in a longitudinal study including both baseline and 12 month follow up surfaces. Objective: To estimate the prevalence of depressive disorders among US adults and explore the association between a history of Myocardial Infarction (MI) and depressive disorders, considering potential risk factors and demographic variables.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from 2022 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data, including 390,429 US adults. Logistic regression was used to estimate the association between the history of MI and depressive disorders, adjusting for age, gender, race, smoking status, health insurance, education level, and BMI. Effect modification by age was assessed.

Extensive site surveys and excavations on the Island of Barbuda led by Dr. Sophia Perdikaris have identified over 62 sites spanning from the Archaic time period to Historic times. Over the last 18 years, these multidisciplinary teams have focused on mapping all sites and performing rescue excavations on sites threatened by sea level rise, erosion or development.
