Pre-Transplant Evaluation Period Efficiency Through The Use Of An Electronic Scheduling Template, Christy Dawn Byrd
Pre-Transplant Evaluation Period Efficiency Through The Use Of An Electronic Scheduling Template, Christy Dawn Byrd
Student Scholarly Projects
Practice Problem: Candidacy for transplant evaluation is a complex and lengthy evaluation process. Delays in National Organ Registry have significant unfavorable impacts on patient outcomes as 22 people a day die awaiting a lifesaving treatment. Operational efficiencies can improve the pre-transplant evaluation period and significantly improve patient outcomes.
PICOT: In an outpatient transplant clinic (P), will leveraging an evidence-based scheduling template (I) compared to the current practice of first available appointment (C) reduce the evaluation period by 66% from a 3–4-week evaluation to a 1-week evaluation resulting in expedited listing on the National Organ Registry (O), when applied over …

A Pilot Program To Address Nurse Leader Moral Distress Secondary To The Performance Evaluation Of Underperforming Personnel, Lisa Krening
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Problem Description: First defined in 1984, as a nurse knowing the correct course of action but perceiving barriers that constrain the action, moral distress has evolved to include challenging situations associated with moral uncertainty, moral conflict, and ethical or moral dilemmas (Campbell et al., 2016; Fourie, 2015, 2016; Jameton, 1984). While the bulk of the moral distress literature has highlighted the challenges of direct care nurses, nurse leaders also grapple with ethical dilemmas that often lead to moral distress (Edmonson, 2010; Ganz et al., 2015; Prestia et al., 2017). Additionally, research indicates that nurse leaders lack experience in navigating ethical …

Extending Immunity For Drug Overdoses, Dixie R. Tabet, Maggie G. Spadaro, Kaylie E. Moss
[Archive] Belmont University Research Symposium (BURS)
The Tennessee Code 63-1-156 provides immunity to those who suffer from a drug overdose that seek medical assistance, only for the first overdose. After the first overdose, individuals who seek medical assistance do not receive immunity and are subject to criminal charges. Over the past 5 years, drug overdose deaths have increased significantly and in 2021 3,814 Tennesseans died from a drug overdose. In addition, individuals incarcerated for drug-related offenses make up about 20% of the state’s prison population. The state of Tennessee has had a significant increase in drug abuse rates, leading to a rise in overdose deaths and …

A Critical Analysis Of Discrepancies In Behavioral Health Program Ratings By Evidence-Based Practice Registers For Behavioral Health, Miranda Jade Lee-Easton
A Critical Analysis Of Discrepancies In Behavioral Health Program Ratings By Evidence-Based Practice Registers For Behavioral Health, Miranda Jade Lee-Easton
Dissertations
Decision makers in the behavioral health disciplines are under increasing pressure to identify and implement evidence-based practices (EBPs). These decision makers often do not have the time or expertise to assess primary studies of program efficacy or effectiveness. They could benefit from tools to assist them in identifying and implementing EBPs. One tool is an evidence-based practice register (EBPR). Prior studies have documented that when multiple EBPRs rate a given program, they may come to seemingly conflicting program ratings. The prior research concerning the reason for these conflicts is sparse. The purpose of the present study is to understand how …

In particular, this study focuses on the Latino population in South Carolina, the vaccination rate among this community, and the perspectives which contributed to their vaccination decision. Two hundred Spanish and Portuguese speaking residents of South Carolina were interviewed using a paper survey conducted by pre-trained interviewers. The survey gathered data …

Examining The Feasibility Of Telehealth Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Tf-Cbt) With Young People In Foster Care, Jill Mcleigh, Adrianna Martin, Laura Lamminen
Behavioral Health/Developmental Delay
Despite the high rate of trauma exposure among young people with child welfare involvement, various systematic and patient barriers exist that inhibit utilization of evidence-based trauma treatments. One strategy for alleviating barriers to such treatments is using telehealth. A few studies have found that the clinical outcomes of telehealth TF-CBT are comparable to those found from clinic-based, in-person treatment administration. Studies have yet to examine the feasibility of telehealth TF-CBT with young people in care. The current study sought to address this gap by examining outcomes for patients who received telehealth TF-CBT, along with factors that may have impacted successful …
