Osteopathy Complete, Elmer De Vergne Barber Jan 1898

Osteopathy Complete, Elmer De Vergne Barber

Classic Osteopathic Medical Works

The human system is, to all intents and purposes, a wonderful machine, capable of running for an indefinite period of time, unless interfered with by accidents, dislocations, contraction of muscles, obstruction of the nerve-force, or the circulation of the nutritive fluids of the body. The author consulted such works as Gx'ay, Landois, Saunders, and Musser, with an earnest desire to advance the cause of Osteopathy, and endeavored to be accurate, concise, and modern.

Studies On Nebraska Parasites, Henry B. Ward Aug 1897

Studies On Nebraska Parasites, Henry B. Ward

Studies from the University of Nebraska Zoological Laboratory

The intimate relations in which domestic animals stand to man have always made the transfer of parasites from the one to the other a matter of much greater probability than exists between man and the other forms of animal life. It is but natural that the most common species of human tapeworm come to man from his two chief sources of animal food-beef and pork. The chances of accidental infection, however, are evidently much greater in the case of those forms that are intimately associated with man, and hence clearly greatest in those he holds as household pets, the dog and …

Osteopathy: The New Science Of Healing, Elmer De Vergne Barber Jan 1896

Osteopathy: The New Science Of Healing, Elmer De Vergne Barber

Classic Osteopathic Medical Works

This author knew that Osteopathy was destined to revolutionize the medical world and aims to reach the masses. While Barber gives Dr. Still credit for the new science which he discovered, he differs with him as to the true cause of the results reached by the Osteopath. Barber states that the true cause of all disease may be traced to some muscle which has contracted and for some unaccountable reason has failed to relax, thus interfering with all the forces of life.

Bulletin No. 41 - Tuberculosis, F. W. Brewer

The Parasitic Worms Of Man And The Domestic Animals, Henry B. Ward Aug 1895

The Parasitic Worms Of Man And The Domestic Animals, Henry B. Ward

Studies from the University of Nebraska Zoological Laboratory

This article has been written for the general information of those engaged either on a large or on a small scale in stock raising in our own state particularly, and, while not intended to be a complete treatise on the subject, it includes references to those parasites which seem to be the most important or most likely to be found within our borders. The parasites of cattle, sheep, horse, hog, dog, cat, and man, which have many species in common, form the subject of this paper. The parasites of domestic fowl are, however, quite different from those considered here and …
