The Relationship Of The Training School To The Hospital, Mary Leona Le Frois Jun 1927

The Relationship Of The Training School To The Hospital, Mary Leona Le Frois

Bachelors’ Theses

The relationship of the training school to the hospital presents a problem which has ever been open for discussion to those interested in the development of hospital activities. The vital factor in the very existence of hospitals is, "How shall we take care of our patients?" for the patient is the all-important, central figure in every phase of our hospital work. The treatment received by patients individually and collectively, determines the value of a hospital as a social and scientific institution. Since the primary function, then, is to care for the sick who come for relief and cure from disease, …

The School Of Nursing Its Organization, Administration, And Relationship To The Hospital, Mary Berenice Beck Jun 1927

The School Of Nursing Its Organization, Administration, And Relationship To The Hospital, Mary Berenice Beck

Bachelors’ Theses

The non-sectarian hospitals were public institutions and most of the nursing was done by inmates or by the very poorest class of individuals, who could obtain no other work, and were compelled to earn a meagre livelihood in this manner. No one went to the hospital who could .afford to remain out of it, since the nursing service in the home was far better. Trained nurses did not exist, …

Function And Organization Of A Clinical Laboratory In A General Hospital (For Superintendents), Mary Helena Otterbacher Jun 1927

Function And Organization Of A Clinical Laboratory In A General Hospital (For Superintendents), Mary Helena Otterbacher

Bachelors’ Theses

The object of this paper is to bring before the superintendents of hospitals the necessity of a well organized and a well functioning clinical laboratory. It is one of the most important service departments in the entire organization of the hospital. In no field of medicine or hospital work have such strides been made in raising the hospital to a more scientific level, as in the laboratory. The practice of medicine was advancing very slowly until the sciences of bacteriology, biology, and pathology were applied to human processes. These overcame the apparent insurmountable obstacles, which had hitherto prevented the advancement of …
