Dental Advertising: A Survey Of Practicing Dentists In South Carolina, Francis M. Beylotte

An advertising survey was conducted amongst the practicing dentists in South Carolina (1046) dentists. The survey consisted of three distinct parts. The first section contained specific demographic questions regarding a dentist's age, length of practice, the practice location, and the size of the community which the dentist serves. The second section consisted of an opinionaire, in which, the dentist's attitude concerning the using of personal dental advertisements were evaluated. Through a third section, the number and percentage of responding dentists utilizing personal dental advertising, the type of advertisement being used, and the amount of monies being allocated for advertising were …

Legal Representation Of The Mentally Ill, James R. Elkins Dec 1979

Legal Representation Of The Mentally Ill, James R. Elkins

West Virginia Law Review

The "rights revolution," sparked by the United States Supreme Court under the leadership of former Chief Justice Earl Warren, has abated as the Court modifies and in some instances emasculates the constitutional rights afforded criminal defendants. While the Supreme Court assumes a more “moderate" position regarding the rights of criminal defendants and takes a closer look at due process decisions generally, the "rights revolution" has had substantial spillover effect in the case of individuals confined involuntarily in mental institutions. Changing Concepts Of Deviance, Douglas D. Bond Jan 1969

Changing Concepts Of Deviance, Douglas D. Bond

MCV/Q, Medical College of Virginia Quarterly

As I look at the list of distinguished Stoneburner Lecturers, I see I am honored by being the first psychiatrist. This is a tribute to the Department of Psychiatry. In thinking about this paper, I at first considered giving a kind of history of psychiatry. What seemed to me more interesting, however, was an examination of our whole perspective on deviance, in general, and what we call “illness”—an example of a certain kind of deviance, or, perhaps more accurately, a certain way of looking at deviance.
