Background: Extant approaches to close the gap between implementation evidence and practice have been unsuccessful due in part to overreliance on researcher engagement. In practice, change is often driven by mid-level managers. We developed Context-Driven Co-Design (CD2) to equip mid-level managers with a theory- and evidence-based approach to implementation planning.
Methods: We used a two-pronged design. First, we engaged six established implementation researchers in a modified Delphi process, involving two hour-long meetings and asynchronous feedback to develop and refine a CD2 prototype. Second, we piloted an in-person CD2 training and conducted an hour-long focus group to solicit feedback from mid-level …
Impact Of Anatomical Changes On Treatment Plan Robustness: A Comparative Study Of Intensity Modulated Proton Therapy And Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy In Head And Neck Cancer., Jennifer Croft
Masters Projects
Head and neck cancer patients often experience anatomical changes during radiation therapy, including weight loss and tumor regression. These changes can alter planned dose distribution and affect treatment accuracy. Based on the previous understanding, IMPT offers highly conformal dose delivery but is sensitive to the patient’s geometry changes and daily setup uncertainties, while VMAT may provide greater stability under these uncertainties. However, as of today, there is no quantitative analysis and comparison between the two modalities using real clinical data. The purpose of this study is to compare the robustness of IMPT and VMAT for head and neck cancer by …

Makara Journal of Science
Early and accurate diagnosis for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) has gained relevance in an era of emerging therapies to improve patient outcomes. While screening of dried blood spots (DBS) effectively detects deletion-type SMA, non-deletion cases are often missed. Mutation screening from DBS is needed to address this gap. Here, we aimed to evaluate the feasibility of an in-house, cellulose-based card for direct Sanger sequencing for variant hunting, avoiding DNA extraction and offering an alternative to commercial cards. As a proof of concept, sequences obtained from DBSs of 23 healthy individuals were compared with sequences derived from isolated genomic DNA (gDNA). …

2020-Current year OA Pubs
Patients with classic Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) with primary refractory disease, early relapse, or extranodal disease have a higher risk of relapse after salvage therapy and autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT). Post-ASCT brentuximab vedotin (BV) maintenance improved progression-free survival (PFS) in high-risk relapsed/refractory (R/R) cHL in the AETHERA trial, but subgroup analysis suggested that the benefit in patients transplanted in complete metabolic response (CMR) is unclear. In a large international real-world cohort, we assessed the efficacy of BV maintenance stratified by pre-ASCT metabolic response and by the number of clinical risk factors as defined in the AETHERA trial. Adult patients with …

Cumberland Medica
The launch of Cumberland Medica marks an important milestone for the Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine. More than a journal, it reflects something we hope will be deeply woven into our culture: a community of learners committed to discovery, scholarship, and the formation of physicians. This issue showcases the work of our students while also reflecting the scholarship, mentorship, and educational leadership of faculty and staff. More importantly, it reflects our belief that scholarship is not simply about producing knowledge. It is one of the ways physicians learn how to see.
