Drug-coated balloons are an emerging strategy for coronary revascularization. Despite their increasing use, the comparative efficacy of sirolimus- versus paclitaxel-coated balloons (SCB vs PCB) remains uncertain. This updated meta-analysis evaluated clinical and angiographic outcomes of SCB and PCB in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Despite the increased risk of invasive pneumococcal disease among pediatric hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) recipients, pneumococcal colonization has not been evaluated in this population. We prospectively assessed longitudinal pneumococcal colonization in 22 pediatric HCT recipients from conditioning therapy to 100 days post-HCT. A higher likelihood of pneumococcal colonization was observed in the late post-HCT period (weeks 9-14) compared with the early post-HCT period (weeks 1-8), with odds increasing with each additional week after conditioning.IMPORTANCEThis is the first study to longitudinally evaluate pneumococcal colonization in pediatric hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) recipients from the onset of conditioning therapy to 100 days post-HCT. …

PURPOSE: Tumor treating fields (TTFields) are FDA-approved for supratentorial glioblastoma, but feasibility in infratentorial tumors remains poorly defined. This simulation study evaluated TTFields dose in brainstem gliomas using patient-specific modeling with scalp-only transducer arrays.

METHODS: MRI and CT imaging from seven patients with brainstem gliomas were used for TTFields planning with MAXPOINT® (Novocure, Switzerland). In this single-center pilot trial of 60 ICU patients, early administration of 5% albumin in addition to crystalloid did not significantly improve Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS) remission at Day 3 nor reduce 60-day mortality.¹ However, a statistically significant reduction in sepsis was observed in the albumin group compared with crystalloid alone (10% vs. 36.7%, P = 0.01). Although the study concludes that albumin did not improve prognosis, we believe the observed difference in sepsis merits further consideration.

Urothelial cell carcinoma (UCC) with squamous differentiation (SqD) is a subtype of bladder cancer with high metastatic potential. Metastasis of muscle-invasive UCC to the GI tract, with complete transition to squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), is rare, particularly in females. We present a female patient with high grade UCC with SqD treated with radical cystectomy and immunotherapy who presented with hematochezia 1 year after her cancer treatment. INTRODUCTION Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified 80+ genetic loci associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD), enabling the development of polygenic risk scores (PRS). However, the predictive accuracy of PRS in diverse populations remains low. Here, we evaluated the predictive accuracy of single-, multi-, and cross-ancestry AD-PRS models across multi-ancestral populations.

METHODS We used AD GWAS summary statistics from European, African, Admixed American, and East Asian populations to construct AD-PRS for each target population. Model performance was assessed by estimating odds ratios, R2, and area under the curve.

Background: Effects of neoadjuvant immunotherapy (NIT) before liver resection are not well-described in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Survival and R0 resection rates in HCC patients undergoing curative-intent resection with or without NIT were evaluated.

Methods: A retrospective study of stage I-III HCC patients undergoing hepatectomy from the 2017–2022 National Cancer Database was performed. Patients receiving NIT were exactly matched 1:3 to non-NIT patients by clinical stage. Primary outcomes were margin positivity, 30- and 90-day mortality, and overall survival.

Objective: Various radiation dosing regimens exist due to tumor size, location, and patient preference. This study evaluated the long-term outcomes of patients with benign meningiomas treated with hypofractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT)at our institution.

Methods: This is a retrospective review of all patients diagnosed with meningioma at our institution who received hypofractionated SRT (5 fractions). Clinical data, including tumor location, size, prior treatments, demographics, radiation dosimetric information, tumor response, and survival were collected. BACKGROUND: This population-based study aimed to quantify fracture risk after androgen receptor pathway inhibitors in advanced prostate cancer patients by preexisting health conditions.

METHODS: Patients were identified from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results-Medicare files who received abiraterone acetate with prednisone or enzalutamide between January 1, 2013, and December 31, 2020. Despite growing evidence on the impact of intra-tumoral heterogeneity (ITH) in breast cancer (BC), its biological drivers and clinically relevant mitigation strategies remain poorly characterized, particularly in low-resource settings where spatial profiling is rarely applied. To address this gap, we conducted a comprehensive, multiplatform spatial profiling study of BC in a Kenyan population. Using the NanoString GeoMx™ Digital Spatial Profiler, we quantified 44 protein markers across 707 spatially defined, PanCK-segmented Areas of Illumination (AOIs) from 31 tumors. Background: Interpretation of urine buprenorphine and norbuprenorphine concentrations is widely used to assess adherence during treatment for opioid use disorder. However, the relationships between dose, timing of sample collection, and metabolite ratios remain unclear, leading to potential misinterpretation in clinical practice.

Methods: Data were collected from patients on a psychiatry unit who were either inducted on or continued buprenorphine therapy and underwent urine testing for buprenorphine and its metabolite, norbuprenorphine. Urine samples were collected 16 to 786 min after the last buprenorphine dose. Norbuprenorphine-to-buprenorphine ratios were calculated. Data analysis using Python included polynomial regression and random forest models.
