Otosclerosis is a frequent affliction resulting in progressive hearing loss. With the advance of ear surgery during the past 25 years various procedures have been proposed for the correction of this condition. In this paper, which is presented as a thesis to fulfill the requirements for the degree of Master of Science, the operation will be discussed on the basis of the literature and the author's own experiences with the procedure.
