Familial multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN 1) is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by the combined occurrence of tumors of the parathyroid glands, the endocrine pancreas, and the pituitary gland. MEN 1 tumors have previously been shown to be associated with the loss of alleles on chromosome 11, and deletion mapping studies together with family linkage studies have localized the MEN 1 gene to 11q13. A detailed genetic map around the MEN 1 locus is required to facilitate further characterization and cloning of the gene (MEN1). We have characterized a panel of seven rodent-human somatic cell hybrids which contain …

This report summarizes our preliminary experience at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology treating 26 patients with metastatic tumors with hyperthermia and irradiation. Patients received 400 rad fractions given every 72 hours (twice weekly) for a total of 2400, 2800, 3200, or 4000 rad followed by hyperthermia. In addition, 18 lesions were treated according to a protocol designed by the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) for superficial measurable tumors to receive three doses of 500 rad followed by hyperthermia (six lesions) or irradiation alone (three doses of 600, 700, or 800 rad) every 72 hours. Hyperthermia was administered with 2450 MHz …
Studies On Uveitis Part I: Aqueous Studies, Philip C. Hessburg
Studies On Uveitis Part I: Aqueous Studies, Philip C. Hessburg
Henry Ford Hospital Medical Journal
Aqueous microbiological and cytological studies were performed on 134 anterior chamber taps done on 118 patients both with and without uveitis. Cell wall defective bacterial forms (CWDF) were recovered from about 40% of these aqueous specimens and classical bacteria were recovered from 12%. A statistically significant difference could not be found between the incidence of bacterial cell wall defective forms in the various anatomical types of uveitis. There were hints from this work that the presence of CWDF In the aqueous was more frequent in younger patients with uveitis, early in the uveitis attack, if there were multiple foci of …
The Relationship Of The Bucco-Lingual Position Of The Mandibular First Molar To Occlusion And Arch Stability, Lothar M. Guttschuss
The Relationship Of The Bucco-Lingual Position Of The Mandibular First Molar To Occlusion And Arch Stability, Lothar M. Guttschuss
Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects
Forty non-treated and twenty-two orthodontically treated cases were selected to determine the relationship of the bucco-lingual position of the mandibular first molar to occlusion and arch stability.
Plaster models and occlusal radiographs were obtained from all the cases. Anterior crowding, intermolar width, molar classification, and molar overhang relative to the basal bone were determined. The modified technique for occlusal radiographs used was found to result in radiographs which were more versatile and accurate when interchanged with the model measurements. Clinical applications of this technique include the determination of root angulations, location of impactions, and the fabrication of individualized preformed arch …
