A Content Analysis Of How Al Jazeera English And Arabic Channels Framed The War On Gaza, Farah Fakhri Jallad

A Content Analysis of How Al Jazeera English and Arabic Channels Framed the War on Gaza The purpose of this study was to examine how Al Jazeera channels; Al Jazeera English channel and Al Jazeera Arabic Channel framed the war on Gaza from December 27, 2008 to January 18, 2009. A total of 220 news stories were analyzed, with 110 stories from each channel. The study showed that the two channels follow the same trends in covering the Palestinian Israeli conflict, often focusing on the Human disaster script and turning a political conflict into a humanitarian crisis that requires support …

A Survey Of The Motivations For Reading Blogs By Jordanian University Media And Journalism Students, Naheda Moh'd Makhadmeh

Through the uses and gratifications theory, this study investigated the blog reading habits of Jordanian media and journalism students. Focus was given to the amount of time was spent reading blog, which blog categories were read, what motivated the reading of blogs, the students' perspectives on Arabic and English blogs, the students' knowledge of Jordanian media laws, and the relationship between student ender and their motivations in reading blogs. The researcher surveyed 192 Jordanian media and journalism students from Yarmouk University. The most compelling finding is that students are not reading blogs on a regular basis. Since the adoption of the Government Performance and Result Act of 1993, the same demand for accountability placed upon government agencies is also expected in the nonprofit sector (Poister, 2003). Assessing A Combined Theories Approach To Climate Change Communication, Ted Greenhalgh
UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
This research examines the complexities of communicating climate change risk information and the underlying individual attitudes and message content that affect message reception. Using climate change messages incorporating fear appeals and normative information subject's reactions to the messages were evaluated using the Theory of Planned Behavior model. The study found that fear appeals did increase behavioral intention to adopt a lower carbon lifestyle among test group subjects. The Theory of Planned Behavior model showed that attitudes and self-efficacy were significant predictors of the behavioral intent to adopt a lower carbon lifestyle, while community norms were only marginally predictive.
