The present paper provides a cognitive linguistics (CL) framework for analyzing the semantic structure of Arabic spatial noun fawqa based on Principled Polysemy Model (PPM) of Tyler and Evans (2003). PPM approach can broaden the narrow view of classical cognitive linguists regarding the semantic variation in the concept of physical- geometry of a preposition. As a polysemous lexeme, fawqa used by Arabian native to express a broad range of meanings, not only spatial relation but also non-spatial relation. Mastering sentence structure for English Education Master’s Program (EEMP) students is obligatory considering their level of education as graduate students, who would become English teachers, lecturers, or researchers in the future. Therefore, major errors in constructing English sentences are no longer expected to happen at this level. This study investigated grammatical errors in sentences produced by EEMP students in their weekly written reflections in their Educational Psychology class. Short stories constitute parts of the Intermediate Reading course materials. This study aims at finding the students’ views towards (1) the themes, novelty, level of difficulty, and length of the stories; (2) the reading and questioning tasks; (3) the discussion mechanism, and (4) the potentials of the short stories and the discussion mechanism to improve their reading strategies. This study is a survey with a questionnaire and 25 repondents. This article discusses the 'Self-portrait' in modern Korean poetry Jahwasang (hangul: 자화상) by Yoon Dongju using the Riffaterre’s semiotic theory. Semiotic theory assumes that literature is a semiotic fact of humanity. Semiotic means that literature is a collection of meaningful sign systems. The purpose of this study is to find the meaning of 'self portrait' written on Jahwasang. The research method of this study is a qualitative method. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that poem "self portrait" is about Yoon Dongju’s reflection and introspection of the past.

The article deals with semantic representations, which are isolated from the interpretation of the actant structure of the verb. It can be assumed that as part of the semantic interpretation of the distributional-transformational scheme, the relation between the frames of the minimum interpretation determines the case value of each of the actants. To determine the meaning of a case, it is sufficient and necessary to refer the word of this case form to the distributional-transformational attribute and name the frame corresponding to the interpretation segment of the given noun.

This article analyzes the synonymic approach of abstract words. The synonymic relationships between denotative and connotative differences were analyzed in detail. The synonymy and gradation of abstract words have been explained.
