Egg production is a critical economic indicator in the Australian poultry industry, particularly for Ross breeder broilers. This study aims to evaluate and determine the most accurate mathematical model for representing the egg production curve of Ross breeders at Baiada Farm, South Australia. Data from a 34-week production cycle (week 24 to 57) were analyzed using four polynomial regression models: quadratic, cubic, quartic, and quintic. The parameters evaluated include the rate of increase toward peak production, the persistence after the peak, and the coefficient of determination (R2) to measure model accuracy. The pesticide p,p'-DDT (DDT) and its analogs (p,p'-DDD, o,p'-DDD, and p,p'-DDE) inhibit the binding of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) to the androgen receptor (AR) and estradiol (E2) to the estrogen receptor (ERα) ligand-binding domains (LBDs), as previously reported. In this study, we introduce assays to measure the release of receptor-bound steroids. These compounds induced the release of DHT from the AR LBD and E2 from the ERα LBD. These findings suggest that DDT and its analogs may interact with a surface site on the LBD, thereby allosterically disrupting steroid binding. One potential site is binding function 3 (BF3). Septoria nodorum blotch (SNB) is an economically important fungal disease of wheat caused by Parastagonospora nodorum. It is primarily controlled by the breeding of resistant wheat cultivars, but experience over the last 50 years shows that new pathogen populations soon evolve that are more virulent on the current popular cultivars. Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the United States, infecting up to 75% of sexually active individuals, with a prevalence rising significantly around age nineteen for oral and genital infections. Because the virus infects epithelial cells and is transmitted primarily through skin-to-skin contact, it is found mainly in the cervix, oral cavity, and on/within ones’ skin. Major facilitator superfamily (MFS) transporters aid bacteria in expelling toxic compounds such as antibiotics, bile acids, and other substances. Previous bioinformatic studies identified the emrB motif as a potential regulatory RNA element. In Lactobacillus, this RNA motif is generally found in the intergenic region upstream of an MFS transporter gene with homology to the emrB gene from Escherichia coli. Secondary structure predictions of the intergenic region were used to define the structural features of this RNA motif. This study used GIS-based change detection analysis to evaluate changes in corn and soybean fields in Calloway County, Kentucky, between 2015 and 2025 and to test whether new corn and soybean fields were located on prime farmland. Although an estimated 15% to 20% of the general population may show symptoms of dyslexia, studies report that 41% to 62% of incarcerated individuals display dyslexia-related characteristics. Here, we present four participatory techniques—visioning, mapping, photovoice, and codesign—with practical recommendations for their effective implementation in fostering civic learning and engagement in urban greening among BIPOC and Hispanic youth. With examples of culturally responsive, hands-on activities and an AI-assisted synthesis of youth ideas, drawn from application with over 100 youth in Connecticut, we illustrate their use in informing local urban planning processes. We highlight the role of these techniques in positioning youth as active civic agents and collaborative designers in the creation of urban green spaces, with application for Extension professionals, educators, and planning officials.

Sustainable irrigation uses crop and environmental information to guide the frequency (how often) and amount (how much) of water to apply. Without this balance, poor irrigation practices can result, causing crop stress from too little or too much water, nutrient loss and contamination, or wasted water that drains below the root zone. This fact sheet covers the basics of soil water storage, crop water demand, considerations for designating irrigation zones, using free weather stations, and water conservation strategies for gardens and small farms, with a focus on cut flowers.
