The Distribution And Ecology Of The Terrestrial Shell-Bearing Mollusca Of Hanover, Henrico, And Chesterfield Counties, Virginia, John Bayard Burch Apr 1954

The Distribution And Ecology Of The Terrestrial Shell-Bearing Mollusca Of Hanover, Henrico, And Chesterfield Counties, Virginia, John Bayard Burch

Master's Theses

Very little has been published concerning the molluscan fauna of Virginia, this being also true for the area under consideration. A preliminary list of the Mollusca of Hanover County was published by J.B.Burch (1952) in which twenty-five species and subspecies of land snails were reported. Several of the land Mollusca of Henrico and Chesterfield Counties were listed by P.R. Burch (1950). These included the snails Discus patulus Deshayes, Haplotrema concavum (Say), Mesodon thyroidus (Say), Stenotrema hirsutum (Say), Triodopsis Fallax (Say), and Ventridens = (zonitoides) arboreus (Say). Two additional species, Helicodiscus parallelus (Say) and Retinella indentata (Say), were reported by personal …

Weed Control Investigations On Some Important Aquatic Plants Which Impede Flow Of Western Irrigation Water, United States Department Of The Interior, Bureau Of Reclamation

Elusive Documents

During the past 50 years, the acreage of land placed under irrigation in the western United States has increased greatly to meet the growing demand for food and fiber production. To provide this water for crop production it is necessary not only for river waters to be impounded and irrigation canal distribution systems established but also for the irrigation waterways to be free of obstructing plant growths which impede the flow of water. This requires various types of weed control measures in order that originally designed carrying capacities of the waterways may be maintained. Methods involving new techniques developed mostly …

Studies On The Helminth Fauna Of Alaska. Xx. The Histogenesis Of The Alveolar Larva Of Echinococcus Species, Robert L. Rausch Mar 1954

Studies On The Helminth Fauna Of Alaska. Xx. The Histogenesis Of The Alveolar Larva Of Echinococcus Species, Robert L. Rausch

Harold W. Manter Laboratory of Parasitology: Faculty Publications

The occurrence of the larval stage of Echinococcus granulosus (Batsch, 1786) in a microtine rodent, Clethrionomys rutilus Pallas, on Bering Island was reported by Barabash-Nikiforov (1938) and Afanas'ev (1941). Rausch and Schiller (1951) reported this cestode from tundra voles, Microtus oeconomus Pallas, collected on St. Lawrence Island. Further observations have shown that it occurs also in C. rutilus in the same location. Both species of rodents have a wide circumboreal distribution.

Agricultural Production Trends In South Dakota, Robert J. Antonides Jan 1954

Agricultural Production Trends In South Dakota, Robert J. Antonides

Agricultural Experiment Station Agricultural Economics Pamphlets (1941-1991)

Many South Dakotans who are concerned with agriculture in the State have been interested in obtaining some means of comparing agricultural production over the years. Total income from agricultural products sold gives a very rough estimate of trends, but does not take into account the many other farm products which are not sold but used on the farm. The indexes presented here account for all of the output of the farms of South Dakota with the exception of some very minor crops and farm gardens. The present study is the first attempt to combine all of the various types of …
