Washing Technology For Medium And Highly Saline Soils, B.K. Saliev, M. S. Yuldashev, N.O. Shaimanov

Irrigation and Melioration

The article discusses the issues of conducting field experiments to assess the reclamation conditions of soils, which are a particular issue of managing salinity and water-salt regime, as well as increasing the efficiency of desalination. Today, 46.6% of the irrigated lands of the Republic of Uzbekistan have salinization of varying degrees, of which 30.9% are weak, 13.3% are moderate and 2.5% are highly saline. Medium and highly saline lands make up 15.8%. The essence of the proposed method of flushing from the traditional one is that in late autumn or winter, the collectors-ditches are closed, and the groundwater is artificially …

An Innovative Seeder For Sowing Non-Loose Seeds Of Saxaul And Cherkez, E.T. Farmonov Mar 2021

An Innovative Seeder For Sowing Non-Loose Seeds Of Saxaul And Cherkez, E.T. Farmonov

Irrigation and Melioration

The main reasons for the absence of a seeder for mechanized sowing of non-loose seeds of fodder plants in deserts are analyzed in the article. The author has developed a technology for sowing non-loose seeds (saxaul and cherkez), which prevents clogging, crushing and breakage in the seeder hopper, and provides for uniform and stable sowing at a set rate and shallow depth over the entire field area without reducing the biological germination. An innovative seeder with a universal sowing unit is recommended. Field tests of the innovative seeder with the proposed universal sowing unit were conducted in February 2020, as …

Aerification Effects On ‘Innovation’ Zoysiagrass Thatch And Quality, Jack Fry, Dani Mcfadden Jan 2021

Aerification Effects On ‘Innovation’ Zoysiagrass Thatch And Quality, Jack Fry, Dani Mcfadden

Kansas Agricultural Experiment Station Research Reports

When a thatch layer accumulates on turfgrass it can be detrimental to the stand. A field experiment was initiated to investigate aerification treatments and their influence on organic matter, quality, and color of ‘Innovation’ zoysiagrass that was sodded within the past year. Turfgrass that was intensely aerified had less organic matter content in the surface inch of the profile compared to turfgrass that was not aerified. Color was also enhanced in treatments receiving aerification compared to nonaerified turf, which may have been attributed to trending of higher nitrate content in aerified plots.
