ASEAN Journal of Community Engagement
The need for rehabilitation services in nursing homes (NH) for the elderly is increasing each year, and this need is fulfilled both with ordinary clinical rehabilitation center visits, as well as community-based rehabilitation (CBR) inside the facility. However, a proper situation analysis is needed to establish a well-delivered CBR program in the NH, a niche to be fulfilled in this study. This study used a descriptive measurement and cross-sectional design to target the elderly who are living in the NHs. Consecutive sampling was done in the largest NH in Jakarta, in Cipayung District. Participants who were dependently ambulated were assessed …

Journal of Bioresource Management
Plants are rich in bioactive chemical secondary metabolites and have proven insecticidal activity by killing or repelling insects. In this work, we aim to evaluate the direct and delayed effects of ethanolic plant extracts on the vinegar fly (Drosophila melanogaster). The treatment was performed by ingestion on second instar larvae (L2) to evaluate the impact of the ethanolic extract on development for 15 days and subsequently on the feeding behavior of the larvae. The results of this study indicate a slowing down of pupal growth until the adult stage, at the three concentrations (0.25 µg/ml, 0.5 µg/ml, 1.5 …

Journal of Bioresource Management
Today, climate change is one of the greatest threats facing forest ecosystems. It directly influences the geographical distribution of insects and increases epidemics of harmful insects. The present work took place in this context. It aimed to contribute to the knowledge of egg parasitoids that could affect the evolution of the pine processionary caterpillar Thaumetopoea pityocampa, a major forest pest in Algeria and Mediterranean countries. The study was carried out on 120 batches of eggs taken from the Atlas cedar at two sites in the Chelia cedar zone (case of eastern Algeria) in 2017. It allowed the analysis of a …

Journal of Bioresource Management
The cedar forests in Algeria represent a model of forests very rich in entomological fauna and especially dictyopterans, notably blattopterans. In the cedar forest of Chelia in the Aurès Mountains, we chose three different sites according to altitude (2020 m, 1920 m, 1820 m) in order to collect existing cockroaches using the sight-hunting method (twice a month). The inventory allowed us to capture more than 1220 cockroaches and we were able to identify three genus (Dziriblatta, Phyllodromica ,Loboptera) and seven species: Dziriblatta stenoptera, Dziriblatta nigrivintris, Phyllodromica zebra, Pyllodromica trivittata, Phyllodromica sp, Loboptera angulata, Loboptera alluaudi, of which …

Forecasting Locational Marginal Prices In Electricity Markets By Using Artificial Neural Networks, Kim Jay R. Rosano, Allan C. Nerves
Journal of Economics, Management and Agricultural Development
Electricity price forecasting is an important tool used by market players in decision-making and strategizing their participation in the electricity market. In most studies, market-clearing price is forecasted as it gives an aggregated overview of system price. However, locational marginal price (LMP) gives better outlook of the price particular to the customer location in the electrical power grid. This study utilizes Artificial Neural Networks to forecast weekday LMP of generator and load nodes. Various inputs such as historical prices and demand, and temporal indices were used. Using data for selected nodes of the Philippine Wholesale Electricity Spot Market, forecast Mean …

The Benefits Of Astaxanthin To Improve Pain Relief In Patients With Painful Diabetic Neuropathy: An Open-Label, Randomized Controlled Trial, Rizaldy Taslim Pinzon, Mary Rose Angelina Budi Harsana
Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research
Treatment of diabetic neuropathy is still carried out by providing symptomatic therapy, which only improves ± 50% of the total symptoms felt by patients, but does not tackle the underlying causes of the disease. Astaxanthin is a potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-diabetic carotenoid that could be an additional treatment option. We aimed to measure the effectiveness of administering astaxanthin as an additional therapy to improve the impact of pain and discomfort experienced daily by diabetes mellitus patients with painful diabetic neuropathy. We conducted a randomized experimental study with an open label design of 36 patients who had been diagnosed with …

The study area is located to the west-southwest of Cairo, which includes Qarun and East Bahariya Concessions. Two main prolific sedimentary basins included; Gindi and Mubarak basins. Geophysical and 3D seismic data integrated with well logs, as well as geochemical data from 5 wells, all resulted in an accurate delineation of the structure traps and a reassessment of the elements of the petroleum system in this area. Mentioned basins are formed as a result of Late Cretaceous wrench tectonics. Such tectonic regime was responsible for generating oil entrapment and conduit faults in Cretaceous reservoirs. Detailed geochemical analysis proved that the …

Do Socio-Demographic Factors And Sources Of Information Relate To Climate Change Awareness? Evidence From Afrobarometer Round 7 Data, Ayodeji P. Ifegbesan, Razaq O. Azeez, Sesan Mabekoje
Journal of Environmental Science and Sustainable Development
Climate change has been considered the most significant environmental catastrophe which is currently threatening human survival. Like the rest of other countries on the African continent, climate change in Nigeria has debilitating effects on both the people and the community due to vulnerability and poor coping capability of the people. Numerous studies related to the problem of rising temperatures in Africa are now being carried out and documented. However, only a little research evidence is available, particularly from Nigeria, regarding the way socio-demographic factors and sources of information are related to climate change awareness. The Afrobarometer Round 7 data for …
