Evaluation Of Diet Matrix Uncertainty For The Atlantis Model, Cameron Ainsworth

C-IMAGE data

We conducted 1000 Atlantis simulations, using permutated diet matrices created by drawing from a beta distribution that represented uncertainty in predator diet. We also employed a statistical emulator which simulates the production of many more Atlantis runs than could be achieved through numerical simulation. This dataset includes 3 products: statistical emulator output, diet matrices, and Atlantis simulations. These are each contained in their own zip file.

Sun Glint Critical Angle Oil Detection, Shaojie Sun Oct 2017

Sun Glint Critical Angle Oil Detection, Shaojie Sun

C-IMAGE data

This dataset includes two MODIS L1B images and the generated sun glint reflectance (LGN) data after atmospheric correction. LGN was also modeled for the two images according to the sun/view geometry, oil and water fresnel reflection. This dataset introduced atmospheric correction and different oil fresnel reflection with water in the calculation of sun glint reflectance from MODIS imagery. By doing this, the calculated sun glint reflectance results are more accurate and the original concept of sun glint critical angle is refined.

Development Of A Marine Compatible Biological Assay For Mutagenic Compounds, Lauren Mcdaniel Oct 2017

Development Of A Marine Compatible Biological Assay For Mutagenic Compounds, Lauren Mcdaniel

C-IMAGE data

One of the primary negative effects of environmental oil exposure is the potential for mutagenic, or DNA damaging effects. This can lead to heritable genetic damage in higher organisms with long-term environmental impact. The biological effect of contamination is difficult to estimate on the basis of chemical profiles due to the complexity of environmental samples. Thus, biologically based assays give a closer approximation of the actual ecological impacts of contamination. To measure the mutagenic or DNA damaging potential of samples we currently utilize the Microscreen Assay, which is based upon a strain of Escherichia coli that is sensitive to mutagenic …

Fish Exposure Studies: Associated Water, Sediment And Food Microbiology And Mutagenic Potential, Lauren Mcdaniel

C-IMAGE data

As part of an ongoing assessment of the long-term impacts of oil and dispersants on ecosystem health experiments were performed to examine the effects of exposure on different species of fish and varying routes of exposure. As a part of this study we directly assessed the mutagenic potential of the contaminated treatments as well as the surrounding environment in which the fish were contained. For these assessments we used the biologically based assay of DNA damage termed the Microscreen Assay. General microbiological parameters including total viral and bacterial counts and culturable bacterial counts were also measured. Fish experiment data are …

Ecopath With Ecosim Model Of The West Florida Shelf Representing 1980 For Harmful Algal Bloom Simulations, Cameron Ainsworth, Alisha Gray

C-IMAGE data

This is an Ecopath with Ecosim model of the West Florida Shelf. It is based on a model constructed by Mahmoudi (unpublished data) (see Okey et al. 2004 for an application) and later modified Gray et al. 2013 to incorporate additional exploited and non-exploited species and life stages known to be sensitive to harmful algal blooms (HABs). To incorporate HABs an additional (pseudo) fishing fleet is added into the model to provide a red tide mortality driver on adult fish and invertebrates. Biomass caught by this fleet is immediately cycled into the detritus pool, and thus nutrients from killed fish …

Species Specific Metabolic Capacity Of Naphthalene And Phenanthrene In Three Species Of Marine Teleosts Exposed To Deepwater Horizon Crude Oil, Erin Pulster Aug 2017

Species Specific Metabolic Capacity Of Naphthalene And Phenanthrene In Three Species Of Marine Teleosts Exposed To Deepwater Horizon Crude Oil, Erin Pulster

C-IMAGE data

Select monohydroxylated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) metabolites were measured in three marine teleosts, red drum (Sciaenops ocellatus), Florida pompano (Trachinotus carolinus) and southern flounder (Paralichthys lethostigma) to evaluate species specific metabolic differences. Fish were exposed to DWH crude oil by intraperitoneal (i.p.) injections at time 0 and 48 hours with bile sampling events at 24 and 72 hours post injection. Biliary levels of monohydroxylated naphthalene and phenanthrene metabolites were confirmed and quantified using gas chromatography triple quadrapole mass spectrometry.
