We live in an individualistic achievement society that encourages people to chase external validation by putting the focus on innovation and competition over collaboration and collective care. Many of these dynamics are at play in the library and information science profession, leading to toxic cultures of scarcity, low morale, burnout, and disproportionate harm to BIPOC library workers and patrons. We have the power to imagine new futures that will equip us to better serve our patrons and support our collective well-being. Slow librarianship focuses on relationship-building, values-driven work, quality over quantity, solidarity, antiracism, and reflective practice.

This article explores writing as a process of inquiry and meaning-making in the autoethnographic tradition, offering reflections on the recursive, emergent, and dialogical/dialectical nature of writing, along with some points for consideration. Drawing on perspectives from qualitative research and narrative inquiry (Riessman, 2008), I argue that autoethnographic writing serves as a method of inquiry and/or discovery, generating ontological, epistemological, and axiological-driven cultural meaning that functions as a site of reflection, interrogation, and re-storying of lived experiences. This recursive, often messy, and reflexive act allows researchers to excavate, analyze, and interpret their lived experiences. Rather than viewing writing as a final-stage …

The growing availability of large bibliographic databases and analytical tools has accelerated the adoption of bibliometric methods across research fields worldwide. In Indonesia, bibliometric approaches have been widely applied across diverse domains; however, existing studies remain largely discipline-specific and lack a comprehensive national-level overview of how bibliometric research itself has developed. This study addresses the prevalent issue of unethical user behavior towards library collections, which threatens their preservation. The main objective is to analyze the forms and underlying causes of these behaviors at the Library and Archives Service (Dispusip) of North Sumatra Province. This research employs a qualitative case study approach, utilizing direct observation, photographic documentation, and brief interviews as its methods. The results indicate a significant occurrence of unethical practices, such as page-folding (dog-earing), underlining or scribbling on pages, and mis-shelving books. Tacit knowledge is implicit knowledge that plays a crucial role in experiential learning within information literacy communities, yet it is difficult to preserve due to its intangible nature. This study aims to identify transfer mechanisms, preservation strategies, and factors contributing to the vulnerability of tacit knowledge in volunteer-based communities. The study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following PRISMA 2020 guidelines using the Scopus database. A total of 10 articles were analyzed through qualitative thematic synthesis. The findings show that tacit knowledge transfer occurs through shared practices, mentoring, and experience-based learning. However, this advancement has also raised concerns in the art world, such as unauthorized use of artists’ works and the potential decline of human creative labor. This study examines the information behavior of digital artists who are students at the University of Indonesia toward AI-generated artwork, using Wilson’s Model of Information Behavior (1996). The process of policy development and revision often suffers reduced prioritization, particularly when staffing levels limit dedicated expertise and the time necessary for thorough evaluation. International surveys reveal common tendencies for institutional repository policies to lack desired degrees of comprehensiveness, refinement, or consistency, creating operational uncertainty and inhibiting long-term sustainability. Paywalls and high article processing charges in academic publishing restrict access to scientific knowledge, limiting who can produce, use, and benefit from research. These barriers disproportionately affect researchers and institutions in low- and middle-income countries, reinforcing global inequalities in research capacity and evidence-informed policymaking. Addressing these challenges requires determined system leadership to reform funding models, expand equitable open access pathways, and ensure publicly funded research is freely available. Without coordinated action, the promise of inclusive, globally shared scientific progress central to the Sustainable Development Goals will remain unrealised.

The present research focuses on how Academic Social Networking Sites (ASNS) can influence perceived outcomes of research in scholars by going beyond the adoption-centered methods to an outcome-centered perspective. The study deconstructs the effects that the primary dimensions of ASNS usage, namely the awareness, access, purpose, and challenges, have on research-related benefits using a quantitative research design. Results indicate that functional and behavioural factors are more decisive determinants of results as opposed to sheer awareness. The Item Response Warehouse (IRW) is a repository of harmonized item response datasets designed to support secondary analysis and methodological research in psychological and educational measurement. This paper serves as a practical guide for researchers interested in using the IRW. We describe the structure of IRW datasets and the quantitative and qualitative metadata available for dataset selection, and we demonstrate how researchers can navigate the IRW website to explore and compare available tables. We further show how the IRW R and Python packages can be used to filter datasets programmatically, download response-level data, and generate standardized citations for reproducible research …

● State and federal policies targeting divisive concepts or DEI are shaping research agendas at scale and across disciplines. Twenty percent of all respondents, and 29 percent of researchers working in states with divisive concepts or similar laws, reported having avoided certain research topics because of state laws and policies.
