A Proposed Course Of Study For Prospective Secondary Education Teachers Of The Social Sciences In The Use Of Educational Media And Media Centers, Shelby Strand, Joe Abbott, Paulette Johnson
Theses and Dissertations
Research has shown that prospective teachers have a very limited knowledge of educational media and media centers, and that little is presently being done to correct this deficiency. The intent of this study was to develop a course of instruction which would give the prospective secondary teacher of the social sciences the knowledge and acquaintanceship necessary to enable him to make intelligent and effective use of educational media and the school media center.
The course was first planned in advance and then actually taught to a group of secondary education majors in the social sciences. A day-to-day account of the …

A Program Of Library Instruction For Junior High School, Jane Lewis Abbas
A Program Of Library Instruction For Junior High School, Jane Lewis Abbas
Graduate Research Papers
An integrated program of library instruction reflects the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the school's educational program. The library assumes a role of ever increasing importance in the educational process. An effective multi-media center provides a well-integrated program of instruction.
A program of integrated library instruction becomes a reality when the administrators, faculty, and librarian plan together to develop library skills relevant to the students. The skills relate to interests, needs, and abilities of the individuals. The library is most promising for improving and enriching classroom instruction.

This study intends to summarize some of the writings and research in this area and to provide a comparative analysis between selected research and current opinion by use of an opinionnaire administered to 24 librarians, 35 classroom teachers, and 11 administrators.
