Section 1. Purpose. Artificial intelligence (AI) holds extraordinary potential for both promise and peril. Responsible AI use has the potential to help solve urgent challenges while making our world more prosperous, productive, innovative, and secure. At the same time, irresponsible use could exacerbate societal harms such as fraud, discrimination, bias, and disinformation; displace and disempower workers; stifle competition; and pose risks to national security. Harnessing AI for good and realizing its myriad benefits requires mitigating its substantial risks. This endeavor demands a society-wide effort that includes government, the private sector, academia, and civil society.

If plagiarism is not overcome, it can have a number of consequences, including copyright infringement and the emergence of the assumption that plagiarism is a simple way to create a scientific work. The study explored the stages of pregnancy at which pregnant women seek information from various sources and the challenges pregnant women encounter in seeking information. A Mixed-method approach was used to carry out the study. A questionnaire was used to collect data from 148 pregnant women from three hospitals namely, Tamale Teaching Hospital, Tamale West Hospital, and the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital, Interviews were conducted with three midwives, one from each hospital, and a Gynecologist at the Tamale Teaching Hospital. Last year during Open Access Week, Georgia State University Library asked its students, "What should professors know about expensive textbooks?" and "What have you done when a textbook was too expensive?" Applying open pedagogical approaches, these questions were displayed on white boards at library service desks on each campus. Students were encouraged to respond to the first question in their own words, and they were asked to respond to the second question by selecting one of five responses. Responses were analyzed and anonymized, and they were then used in faculty professional development to demonstrate the local impact of expensive textbooks. …

Herding Cats To Oer: Overhauling A General Education Curriculum, Dan Hoiland, Silas Brewer, Elizabeth Jacobson

In this session, learn how librarians at Concordia University, St. Paul helped lead an initiative to implement OERs throughout the university’s General Education (GE) curriculum. During the summer term, librarians — along with instructional designers and the LMS team — updated thirteen courses, reworking the curriculum, reenvisioning assignments, and replacing traditional course materials with open or library-licensed content. This initiative resulted in more than $110,000 in savings per semester for full-time students.

Throughout the process, librarians encountered many challenges, including resistance from faculty, replacing entrenched ancillary materials from major publishers (quizzes, labs, etc.), and managing expectations. And while the initiative …

Purpose: This literature review aims to synthesize records and information management (RIM) with the professional literature of industrial/organizational (I/O) psychology to explain undesirable recordkeeping behaviors that may manifest in employees who interact with business records. Design/methodology/approach: The author’s views are based on a literature review of both records management and organizational psychology trends and draw on case studies that identify undesirable recordkeeping behavior. Findings: There is considerable overlap between the problems encountered by RIM professionals and the answers offered by I/O psychology. PURPOSE: The paper examined the effect of library skills and literacy on the academic performance of undergraduate students at Kwara State University, Nigeria.

DESIGN/METHODOLOGY: A descriptive survey method and random sampling techniques were used with 150 randomly selected students for the research. A self-designed questionnaire was used to elicit responses from the respondents, and a simple percentage ratio was adapted for data analysis.

Findings: The result shows that most of the students do not have access to literacy facilities. It reveals a lack of application skills by the majority but shows the positive impact of information literacy on students' academic …

The purpose of this study was to develop a national landscape of the decisions made by LIS programs regarding online course enrollment caps. Online education expands learning opportunities for all students and is particularly attractive to nontraditional students who are more likely to have employment and family obligations that make attending traditional face-to-face classes difficult.
