Mercer Law Review
It was getting late. Outside, the sounds of the five o'clock traffic died down, and the grey twilight of a cold winter's day descended across empty streets and sidewalks. Across the square, the clock on the old church rang out the half-hour. Darkness was taking over inside as well. The grey twilight slipped through the windows and rolled like fog down the stairs and hallways of the aged building on Liberty Street, making the orange glow spilling out of the office at the end of the hall seem warmer still. Exasperated, the apprentice turned to the advocate.

Race, Rap And The Community Standards Test Of Obscenity: The Community Of Culture, Steven Friedland
Nova Law Review
Controversy and obscenity laws appear to go hand in hand.2
Within the past year, for example, obscenity issues have cropped up in
disparate areas around the country, creating a public outcry3 stretching
far beyond the locales in which the issues arose.
Trade Regulations - Clayton Act - Robinson-Patman Price Discrimination Act - Oil Company, Richard Albert
Trade Regulations - Clayton Act - Robinson-Patman Price Discrimination Act - Oil Company, Richard Albert
Duquesne Law Review
The United States Supreme Court has held that a price differential that accords due recognition and reimbursement for actual functions performed does not trigger the presumption of an injury to competition, and therefore is legal under the Clayton Act.

Alive And Kicking: The Kashmir Dispute Forty Years Later, James D. Howley
Penn State International Law Review (1982 - 2011)
This Comment begins with an examination of the roots of the conflict: Kashmir's economy, geography, predominantly Moslem population and Hindu ruler. It will then look at the dispute over Kashmir's accession to India and obligations resulting from United Nations involvement in the dispute. This Comment will focus on the important role the policies and practices of India and Pakistan have played in the development of events, and the part these elements must play in arriving at a solution.

Equity In Maritime Boundary Delimitations: The Gulf Of Maine Case, Ina Raileanu
UC Law SF International Law Review
On December 12, 1984, an ad hoc chamber of the International Court of Justice delivered its opinion in the Case Concerning the Delimitation of the Maritime Boundary in the Gulf of Maine Area. The decision had been anxiously awaited as the first attempt in the history of the Court to effect a line of delimitation for both the continental shelf and the exclusive economic zone. This Note discusses the equity of the Court's decision with emphasis on the role played by the principle of proportionality. In particular, this Note criticizes the interpretation and application of the principle by the United …
Siberia, Environmentalism, And Problems Of Environmental Protection, Armin Rosencranz, Antony Scott
Siberia, Environmentalism, And Problems Of Environmental Protection, Armin Rosencranz, Antony Scott
UC Law SF International Law Review
Siberia contains the world's largest undeveloped open space. It comprises one-tenth of the world's land mass, contains one-fifth of the earth's forest cover, is home to some of the largest herds of reindeer, and contains Lake Baikal, which holds twenty percent of the world's fresh water. However, the long-term integrity of Siberia's rich and beautiful environment is in serious jeopardy because the very natural riches that give Siberia its environmental significance also invite exploration and exploitation. The Article examines some of the historical inadequacies of the Soviet legal and regulatory systems, the current economic concerns of the local Siberian communities, …
The Developing Countries In The Evolution Of An International Environmental Law, John Ntambirweki
The Developing Countries In The Evolution Of An International Environmental Law, John Ntambirweki
UC Law SF International Law Review
Until the global community began to recognize the damage wrought by uninhibited economic development throughout most of this century, the developing countries of the Third World foresaw and aspired to a similar unimpeded advance toward economic prosperity. Instead, in an effort to establish international economic order and environmental conservation, the developed countries asked the developing countries to join them in championing environmental conservation at the expense of economic development. Despite the fundamental incompatibility between developmental and environmental goals, the developing countries reluctantly joined the environmental cause, hoping to secure a role for themselves as the creators of new international environmental …

Justice By Geography: Urban, Suburban, And Rural Variations In Juvenile Justice Administration, Barry C. Feld
Articles
Despite statutes and rules of statewide applicability, juvenile justice administration varies consistently with urban, suburban, and rural social structure and context. In urban counties, which are more heterogenous and diverse, juvenile justice intervention is more formal, bureaucratized, and due process-oriented. Formality is associated with greater severity in pre-trial detention and sentencing practices. By contrast, in more homogeneous and stable rural counties, juvenile courts are procedurally less formal and sentence youths more leniently. The Article explores the implications of "justice by geography" for juvenile justice policy.
