One of the greatest needs of the law today is a satisfactory plan of classification. Whenever codes have been drafted, or digests and encyclopedias of the law compiled, from the time of the Romans to the present, the first problem that presented itself was always that of classification. The question of classification was considered when the work of the American Law Institute was begun and the restatement of the law attempted, though it does not seem to have been given the attention it merited.
