In Pahang, the zakat collection system was privatized in January 1996 where the responsibility was given to the Pusat Kutipan Zakat Pahang (PKZP). The company is owned by the Majlis Ugama Islam Dan Adat Resam Melayu Pahang (MUIP) which controls 51 percent of the major shares and the remaining is owned by AI-Zakat Sdn. Bhd. (49 percent). Since Quranic inscriptions dominate the epigraphic decoration of Cairene Islamic religious monuments, the target of this thesis has been to investigate the Quranic inscriptions of some selected religious monuments of each main era of the Islamic history of Cairo: Fatimid, Mamluk and Ottoman. The questions examined are the following: what was the frequency of utilizing Quranic inscriptions compared to other types of inscriptions? The question that I am left with from the extraordinary presentations over the conference's two days borrows from Rabbi Steve Greenberg's and Ludger Viefhues's discussion of the multiple images of the biblical "Sodom". Conventionally Sodom has signified a place of sexual deviance or, conversely, sexual censorship. But as Greenberg pointed out, in many traditional commentaries on the story of the condemnation of Sodom, the issue was not that the townspeople were engaged in forbidden sexual practices, but that they were violent and hostile to those in need of shelter and food.

The Problem Of Religion, Violence, And Peace: An Uneasy Trilogy, David L. Coppola

Drawing primarily on Jewish, Christian, and Islamic texts, as well as on philosophical and sociological concepts, I will examine religion and its relationship to violence from three distinct, but related perspectives; namely, that 1) religion is directly linked with violence; 2) religion functions as one among many factors that influence violence; and 3) religions are unwilling participants in the practice of violence. This essay begins by setting a context for the study of religion, violence, and peace, followed by a presentation of the three perspectives mentioned above, concluding with possibilities for the study and practice of future peace-making.

Based on the past research, most of the problems were qualitatively analysed from empirical data. This research uses quantitative data in analysing the problems arising from the management of zakat through case study on the payment of zakat paddy in District of Pendang, Kedah.
