"The purpose of this study was to identify the motivations and influences that affect the decision of a sample of individuals to enter careers as professional pilot educators at the collegiate level. Six faculty members at four year, University Aviation Association member institutions were selected to participate in the study. Three individuals had a civilian background while the other three followed a military career path. Civilian faculty followed more varied career paths while those of military faculty were more structured. Civilian faculty pursued higher levels of education more for personal interests while military faculty did so due to expectations in …

The researcher developed the concept of an edge leader—that is, one who can mindfully turn around a troubled business to sustain it for the future. In an increasingly turbulent and competitive climate, more edge leaders must be developed to sustain their organizations for the benefit of shareholders, employees, communities, and society. The researcher's review of the classic and contemporary leadership and change literatures suggested that four elements are necessary to develop leaders capable of leading even basic beneficial change. Academic Leadership: The Online Journal (2003-2012)

There is a popular assumption that conflict is so destructive that the goal of good management should be to minimize friction. According to Robert and Judy (2002), the Conflict-Positive Organization takes the opposite position and presents the argument that conflict, when well managed, adds substantial value to the organization. Effects of conflict could be destructive or constructive; it depends on the expertise that manages it in an organization, Lawrence and Jeffrey (1987). Some conflict management experts transform conflict from destructive to a constructive form, making use of opposing ideas to make decisions, negotiate their differences, and deal with anger to …
