A Comparative Study Of The Learning Styles Of Southeast Asian And American Caucasian College Students On Two Seventh-Day Adventist Campuses, Sally Lam-Phoon

Problem. While much research has been conducted on learning style in the United States, no known empirical study has been done to compare the learning styles of Asian and Caucasian students on Seventh-day Adventist campuses. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in learning-style preferences between a group of Asian students at Southeast Asia Union College in Singapore and Caucasian students at Andrews University in Michigan.

Method. This study employed the Productivity Environmental Preference Scale to measure the learning styles of the two groups. The data which were computed and analyzed to test seven null hypotheses …

The Effect Of An Aerobic Physical Fitness Program On Self-Motivation Of College Students, Susan Lynn Anderson

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of an aerobic physical fitness program on self-motivation of college students. It was hypothesized that participation in an aerobic physical fitness program would result in an increase in self-motivation of college students. One hundred five college students enrolled in activity classes at the University of Northern Iowa were selected for participation in the study. An exercise information questionnaire was used to select the subjects. Fifty-two subjects who participated in aerobic activity classes were specified as the experimental group. Fifty-three subjects enrolled in non-aerobic activity classes served as the control group. …

The University of Northern Iowa, since 1876, has evolved from a single purpose teacher education institution to a more comprehensive institution offering a variety of majors in liberal and vocational arts in addition to maintaining and expanding the teacher education programs. With the change in mission came large increases in enrollment particularly in the liberal and vocational arts areas. In recent years the number of undergraduate students majoring in liberal and vocational arts has been about twice as large as the number majoring in teacher education.
