In counseling, helping grieving clients find meaning after significant loss is a unique, multidimensional, and lengthy process. This is particularly true in Western societies, where antithetical linear grief models, supported by hegemonic expectations to move on after loss, add exhausting pressure to speed up an individual’s natural grieving process. For that reason, this study examined how creative arts interventions such as using traditional art media and expressive writing, combined with postmodern, nonlinear, culturally sensitive bereavement models, help individuals explore their loss narrative to make meaning and adapt to loss. Anxiety is often a natural human response and feeling to the thought and awareness of death. Counselors in the field will likely work with clients who experience death, loss, grief, or bereavement (ACA, 2011). Counselors must be self-aware of the phenomenon of death anxiety as this may largely impact readiness to work with clients experiencing grief and to understand the effects on one’s own ideas, thoughts, and awareness of death (Castano et al., 2011; Veilleux, 2011). An Exploration Of The Occupational Therapy Doctoral Capstone: Perspectives From Capstone Coordinators, Graduates, And Site Mentors, Anne F. Kiraly-Alvarez, Autumn Clegg, Whitney Lucas Molitor, Danielle Friberg

Journal of Occupational Therapy Education

Few studies have investigated entry-level doctoral capstone outcomes regarding how the experience and project relate to employment opportunities. This descriptive study reports various stakeholders’ perspectives regarding the entry-level occupational therapy doctoral (OTD) capstone in relation to employment opportunities and awareness of the profession. Authors disseminated a nationwide survey to doctoral capstone coordinators, entry-level OTD graduates, and capstone site mentors. Ten doctoral capstone coordinators, 68 OTD graduates, and 22 capstone site mentors responded to the survey. Collectively, doctoral capstone coordinators reported that 117 OTD graduates obtained employment in a setting related to the focus of their doctoral capstone and gave examples …

Background: The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) common and specialty program requirements stipulate that residents/fellows participate in scholarly activities. The ACGME provides a reporting template tool for scholarly activity to be utilized by all specialties for evaluation annually. In this study, we aimed to: 1) Conduct a content analysis of the specialty scholarly activity requirements for all ACGME-accredited training programs to identify commonalities and variations, and 2) Assess alignment between the specialty scholarly activity requirements and the reporting template tool provided by the ACGME.

The last 12 months have been a roller coaster for Singapore and the world. Vaccines initially offered what seemed to be a clear way out of the Covid-19 pandemic but the more transmissible Delta variant has complicated matters considerably. However, despite the many challenges that the school has faced, I am happy to report that we have had a very good year overall. First of all, after a thorough and grueling process, the school received its EQUIS re-accreditation that will be valid for five years. Survey Of Medical Marijuana Knowledge And Attitudes In A Dental School, Dara Szyliowicz

Medical Marijuana (MM) use is increasing, requiring healthcare professionals, such as dentists, to increase their working knowledge of MM. Previous studies have indicated that MM education is lacking in current healthcare education.

Methods: A 50-question survey was created to assess, in detail, dentists' knowledge, practice, and attitudes toward MM, and to identify possible correlations between answers. The survey was modeled after a previous survey conducted amongst practicing pharmacists. All faculty dentists, faculty dental hygienists, students and residents at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, University of the Pacific, were invited by email to participate.

Entry-Level Occupational Therapy Doctoral Students' Self-Efficacy For The Doctoral Capstone Experience: A Mixed Methods Analysis, Ann B. Cook

The purpose of this mixed-methods study was to examine factors that influence occupational therapy doctoral students’ self-efficacy for the Doctoral Capstone Experience (DCE). Six doctoral students enrolled in an entry-level occupational therapy doctoral program at a private university were recruited to participate. Students completed a four-item self-efficacy rating scale prior to and several times throughout their DCE. Participants also participated in semi-structured phone interviews regarding their relationship with their Site Mentor after completing the DCE.

Quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and Kruskal-Wallis H tests. The quantitative analysis determined that there were no significant differences in self-efficacy for students …

Fairfield Medical Center is a vibrant healthcare organization focused on providing exceptional healthcare experiences to everyone it serves. Fairfield Medical Center encompasses Cancer care, diabetes managements, emergency care, Gastroenterology, Heartburn Care, Hospice Care, Infectious Disease, Maternity Care, Neurology, Obstetrics & Gynecology Care, and Orthopedic Care.

From a physical therapy standpoint, FMC operates two outpatient clinics, and one inpatient service at the hospital. There are over 40 therapists who will either stay primarily at outpatient and inpatient, and some float between the two depending on the volume of patients.

This study analyzes the effects of COVID-19 on students at the University of Mississippi. For students, COVID-19 changed the landscape of education, with classes and jobs going online. Students who graduated in May 2020 entered a poor job market and many ended up going to graduate school instead of finding a job. Access to medical and professional help was limited at the very beginning, with offices not taking patients or moving appointments to virtual only. This would require that each student needing help had to have access to quality internet service, which wasn’t always guaranteed, thus producing additional challenges.

Organizational Stressors As Predictors Of Burnout, Kristen Albritton

The purpose of this study is to determine if organizational stress, measured by role conflict and role ambiguity, predicts burnout among employees. A review of the related literature identified variables that demonstrate a relationship with burnout, supported by the Maslach (1998) theory of burnout and Katz and Kahn’s (1966) organizational role theory. The researcher also examined whether organizational level and demographic variables (gender, education level, and job tenure) moderate the relationships between role conflict, role ambiguity, and burnout.
