Famous for their habits of downing trees and damming rivers, beavers leave a major impact on their environments. In fact, scientists have said that beavers change their surroundings more than any other animal besides humans.

And new research suggests that these rodents have been modifying forests and rivers for millions of years.

These insights come from a study published in the journal “Palaeontologia Electronica” by Kelly Lubbers, bonebed paleontologist at The Mammoth Site in South Dakota and an alumnus of East Tennessee State University’s paleontology master’s program, and Dr. Joshua Samuels, associate professor in the ETSU Department of Geosciences …

As a child, East Tennessee State University senior Ashlyn Mills had little interest in teaching.

“School was a terrible experience for me, which led to me completing high school online. During that time, I volunteered at the elementary school my mother worked at,” said Mills. “She recommended I volunteer in the special education classroom her friend taught, and I reluctantly did. I fell in love instantly.”

Mills is one of the many who found a passion working with those with a variety of intellectual, developmental, learning, emotional and physical disabilities and sensory impairments.

And in many areas of the …

Online Education In The Age Of Social Media Influencers: Applying Net Promoter Scores To Asynchronous Online Delivery, Scott Sandok

The Interactive Journal of Global Leadership and Learning

An Equity Framework To Engage Community College Preservice Teachers In Black Liberatory Practices, Denise Farrelly, Joanna Maulbeck, Laura Scheiber

Northwest Journal of Teacher Education

While representation of teachers of color remains startlingly low nationwide, it is critical to recognize that increasing diversity is not enough to increase access to an inequitable system. Centering the strengths of Black students, on both an individual and institutional level, through culturally and historically-responsive pedagogical and curricular practices is a crucial step toward equitizing the teaching workforce. Using a culturally and historically-responsive literacy (HRL) framework, we discuss and reflect upon practical classroom-based approaches to engage community college preservice teachers in responsive pedagogical practices that are aligned with the legacy of Black literary societies. The paper is divided into four …
