Spotlighting Innovative Use Cases Of Mobile Learning, Alex Rockey, Samantha Eastman, Mindy Colin, Margaret Merrill

The Emerging Learning Design Journal

Students bring 2-3 devices to class, 100% of 18-29 year olds own a cellphone and 94% own a smartphone (PEW Research Center, 2018), reflecting ubiquitous mobile device ownership among university-aged students across the U.S. Due to the surge of personal devices, campus infrastructure is increasing capacity to rapidly meet demands for wireless access, and instructors are using mobile learning to push classroom boundaries within and beyond the campus environment. This brief showcases innovative uses of mobile learning uncovered through a cross-campus study at four campuses. Our findings have implications for administrative, funding, information technology, and curricular decisions on individual campuses, …

Rollins After Dark: The Hamilton Holt School's Nontraditional Journeys, Randy Noles

Books about Rollins College and Winter Park

Rollins After Dark is a fascinating history of the eclectic program (and larger-than-life characters) that provided the underpinning of what would become today's Hamilton Holt School - the Rollins College evening program. Although 2019 is the Holt School's 60th anniversary, so-called "adult education" has been offered by the College for more than 80 years. In Rollins After Dark, Randy Noles presents an engaging and entertaining account of the development of the Hamilton Holt School at Rollins College. From a series of popular public spectacles focusing on diverse topics, to a serious academic program for degree-seeking, nontraditional students, the evolution …

Athletics And Faith: A Quantitative Analysis On The Relationship Of Athletic Participation And Spiritual Development, Griffin O. Gardner

Master of Arts in Higher Education (MAHE) Theses

The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between athletic involvement and spiritual development. Historically, athletics has been examined as an outlet of spirituality, but previous studies have not examined spirituality as a product of athletic involvement. The following question guided this study: “To what extent, if any, does college athletic involvement impact spiritual development?” This study took a longitudinal quantitative approach, leveraging archival survey data to conduct a means comparison study of the responses to particular survey items for athletic and non-athletic students. Though no statistical significance existed between the results of the two populations, the study …

Educational Rights Of College Students With Disabilities, Delar K. Singh Jan 2019

Educational Rights Of College Students With Disabilities, Delar K. Singh

Faculty Research at Morehead State University

College education has become a prerequisite in today’s globalized, knowledge based, and technology controlled economy. A college education not only benefits the individual, it also has numerous advantages for society. Research shows that college graduates are less likely to be involved with crime, more likely to be home owners, more likely to be healthy, more likely to live longer, and more likely to be financially astute. They tend to be good citizens whose contributions to society are hard to enumerate. Unlike compulsory public school education in the USA, there are no laws that mandate attendance in a college. For high …

Influence Of Corn Hybrid, Kernel Traits, Location, And Dry-Rolling Or Steam-Flaking On Digestibility, Flint W. Harrelson

Faculty Research at Morehead State University

Three trials were conducted to evaluate the effect of corn hybrid, kernel traits, growing location, and dry rolling or steam flaking on DM or starch digestibility or both. Trial 1 used 72 commercially available corn hybrids to evaluate the influence of hybrid on kernel characteristics and their effect on digestibility. Kernel characteristics evaluated were test weight, 1,000-kernel weight, and kernel hardness using the Stenvert hardness test. All analyses were conducted on dry, whole corn samples, and DM digestibility was determined for dry-rolled corn samples. Trial 2 used 12 hybrids to evaluate steam flaking or dry rolling on DM and starch …
