We can now forget a career of anxious Mondays, or returning to the classroom after a week-end of fretting about how to get our students to grasp some concept in aesthetics or epistemology. Our course objectives are stated with precision. Learning is administered in graded doses, with students unfailingly advancing from stage to stage as they are positively reinforced for productive responses. As classroom managers (in another era we were called teachers) we assiduously avoid strategies producing aversive reactions, knowing that they are counterproductive. On 25 April 1975, at the twenty-second annual meeting of SWAN (i.e. Southwestern Association of Naturalists), at the University of Oklahoma Biological Station, President Keith A. Arnold appointed one of us (Choate) to investigate current regulations pertaining to collection and transport of scientific specimens in the region of representation (including Mexico) or SWAN. This charge involves both Federal and State laws, several of which are undergoing change and many of which doubtlessly are not familiar to the membership of SWAN. Ectoparasites Of Mammals From Winneshiek County, Iowa, Dennis George Albertson

Fourteen species of mammals (86 specimens) were collected and found to harbor 32 species of ectoparasites as follows: 3 species of Metastigmata (Ixodidae); 8 species of Mesostigmata (Laelapidae); 1 species of Astigmata (Labidophoridae); 5 species of Prostigmata (4 Myobiidae and 1 Trombiculidae); 9 species of Siphonaptera (4 Ceratophyllidae and 5 Hystrichopsyllidae); 4 species of Anoplura (Hoplopleuridae); 1 species of Mallophaga (Trichodectidae); 1 species of Coleoptera (Leptinidae); and 1 species of Diptera (Cuterebridae). Twelve species were new records for the state and all 32 were new for Winneshiek County.
