Objective:To study the acute toxicity and genotoxicity of silkworm pupa. Methods: The study was carried out by acute toxicity test and genotoxicity test. The genetic toxicity test was divided into micronucleus test in Vicia faba root tip cells, mouse bone marrow micronucleus test and mouse sperm abnormality test. Results: The maximum tolerated dose of the mouse to the silkworm chrysalis was greater than 16 g/kg瘙簚bw in acute toxicity test, which meant that this substance was non-toxic. Influence Of Ridge Groove Structure Of The Inner Walls On Heating Efficiency And Uniformity Of Microwave Reactor, Zhong Runeng, Yao Bin, Xiang Tai, Zheng Qinhong

A strategy that setting ridge groove surface in the inner wall of the microwave reactor is proposed for improving the heating uniformity without losing heating efficiency. The influence of the different ridge groove structure parameters on the heating efficiency and uniformity of the microwave reactor is simulated by using the finite element method. The result shows that the ridge groove structure can effectively improve heating efficiency and uniformity of microwave reactor. Heating efficiency of microwave reactor reaches 98.75% after being simulated. When compared with the smooth cavity wall of the microwave reactor, the heating uniformity is enhanced up to 58.54%.

The optimal extraction conditions of polypeptide from Pleurotus eryngii mycelium was ivestigated, and activity of the antioxidant was evaluated in this study. Based on the single-factor tests, the extraction conditions of polypeptide from P. eryngii mycelium were optimized by Response Surface Methodology(RSM) to increase the extraction rate of polypeptide. Moreover, the polypeptide was purified with Sephadex-50, and the antioxidant activity of polypeptide was assessed using several assay model systems in vitro. The optimal extraction conditions of polypeptide were pH 8.85, extraction time 4.17 h, liquid-to-material ratio 111.86 (g/mL). Effects of the drying temperatures (60, 80, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140 ℃)on the major quality of debittered apricot kernels drying products were studied. The results showed that with increase of drying temperature, the main component of debittered apricot nuts decreased after the first increase. Values of peroxide and acid of debittered apricot kernels increased with drying temperature. Drying temperature influenced on the color of debittered apricot nuts significantly. DNA barcoding is a promising method for the sequencing-based identification of meat and poultry species in food products. However, DNA degradation during processing may limit recovery of the full-length DNA barcode from these foods. Oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in fish causes loss of product quality. Oxidative rancidity causes loss of nutritional value and undesirable color changes. Therefore, powerful antioxidant extracts may provide a relatively low cost and natural means to reduce oxidation, resulting in longer, higher quality and higher value shelf life of foods.

Background: Indigestible markers are commonly utilized in digestion studies, but the complete disappearance or maximum appearance of a marker in feces can be affected by diet composition, feed intake, or an animal’s BW. The objectives of this study were to determine the impact of previous (Phase 1, P1) and current- (Phase 2, P2) diet composition on marker disappearance (Cr) and appearance (Ti) in pigs fed 3 diets differing in NDF content.

Cereal grains are often included in equine diets. When starch intake exceeds foregut digestion starch will reach the hindgut, impacting microbial ecology. Probiotics (e.g., lactobacilli) are reported to mitigate GI dysbioses in other species. This study was conducted to determine the effect of exogenous lactobacilli on pH and the growth of amylolytic and lactate-utilizing bacteria. Hyperspectral techniques were used to study the sugar content of different parts of citrus, and the sugar content detection models with hyperspectral information of calyx, stem and equator part were established respectively. The results showed that the model established by calyx was better than that of stem and equator. The detection models of partial least squares regression (PLSR), principal component regression (PCR), and stepwise multivariate linear regression (SMLR) were established respectively, and the results of these three models were close. A method was established to direct determination of organic selenium in food. The organic selenium was extracted by adding cyclohexane in aqueous solution with pH value of 7.0, and the content of organic selenium was determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry after microwave digestion. In the best test conditions, the limit of detection and quantification were 0.45 μg/kg and 1.5 μg/kg, respectively. The recoveries ranged from 93.5% to 103.0%. The Sous Vide technology at different center temperature conditions (core temperatures were 60, 70, and 80℃, respectively, heated for 5 min) on the preservation qualities of catfish during refrigerated storage (3 ℃+1 ℃) was studied to provide theoretical basis for the application of Vide Sous technology in the preservation of fish. The results showed that, compared with the control group, the drip loss and pH of catfish increased significantly (P<0.05) in the Sous Vide treatments. Procyanidin from grape seed were separated and purified by the aqueous phase two-extraction. Aqueous two-phase extraction systems, differently assisted extraction methods and the extraction strategies were firstly studied. The best extractions of procyanidin by aqueous two-phase system were investigated based on orthogonal experimental design. The results showed that, in the aqueous two-phase extraction system of ethanol and (NH4)2SO4, the extraction method was the microwave-assisted extraction, i.e., Ethanol, water, and compounded by microwave treatment, as well as (NH4)2SO4 were added. In this paper, the changes of protein, lipid, ash and total sugar of rice bran after solid-state fermentation were studied for deep development of rice bran resources. The results showed that the contents of protein and ash increased significantly after fermentation. Moreover, the contents of lipid and total sugar decreased gradually with fermentation time. The optimized fermentation condition was: 37 ℃, 102 h, moisture content of 60%, initial pH 5.5, inoculation amount of 20 mL/100 g, with the true protein content as the response value. Transnational trade of ‘Seedless Kishu’ mandarins (Citrus kinokuni mukakukishu) would require them to be subjected to a suitable phytosanitary treatment. Irradiation is used as an effective treatment for many fruit, but the effect on quality of kishu mandarins is unknown. ‘Seedless Kishu’ mandarins were treated with gamma irradiation (150, 400, and 1000 Gy) and stored for three weeks at 6 °C and then for one week at 20 °C. The functional dairy drink product developed in the present study was packaged in LDPE pouches stored at refrigeration temperature 4±1°C. The results of storage studies depict that the product can be stored upto 18 days at 4±1°C without significantly affecting its sensory qualities. Overall acceptability scores decreased from initial 93.0 to 69.2 after 18 days of storage at 4±1°C for the drink enriched with whey protein; for the drink enriched with whey protein and cocoa, the scores decreased from 93.4 to 72.4. Bacteriocin-producing (Bac+) lactic acid bacteria (LAB) comprising selected strains of Lactobacillus curvatus, Lactococcus lactis, Pediococcus acidilactici, and Enterococcus faecium and thailandicus were examined for inhibition of Listeria monocytogenes during hotdog challenge studies. The Bac+ strains, or their cell-free supernatants (CFS), were grouped according to mode-of-action (MOA) as determined from prior studies. Making a mixture of as many MOAs as possible is a practical way to obtain a potent natural antimicrobial mixture to address L. monocytogenes contamination of RTE meat products (i.e., hotdogs). Lactose intolerance is often blamed for the symptoms such as bloating, diarrhea, gas, abdominal pain, and nausea, that ail many people. Patients often do not seek proper diagnosis from a physician and create their own treatment plans, severely restricting lactose intake, without professional guidance. Even those who do seek the care of a physician find that diagnosis is complicated by less-than ideal testing and confusion due to the symptoms common to many other conditions. Antimicrobial plant extracts used in food packaging provide a healthy packaging alternatives. They contain aromatic and phenolic compounds that are responsible for their antibacterial properties. In this study, we report the antibacterial effects of extracts obtained from sea buckthorn (Hippophaë rhamnoides L.) leaves, and inner bark of pine trees (Pinus silvestris) that were applied as coatings on paper suitable for packaging application. Extracts from sea buckthorn leaves exhibited antibacterial effect both as a solvent extract and as a coating on paper against Pseudomonas aeruginosa as test bacteria. In this study, the ABTS free radicals scavenging activity was as an indicator, the Chou-Talalay method was used to investigate the synergistic antioxidant effect and structure activity relationship of six kinds of small molecules with different structures. The results showed that the ABTS free radicals scavenging activity of the six kinds of flavonoids was in following order, i.e., 5,6,7-trihydroxy flavone > 6-hydroxyl flavone > 3,7-dihydroxy flavone > 5-hydroxy flavone > 3-hydroxy flavone > 7-hydroxyl flavone > ascorbic acid. The effects of germination on total phenolics and β-glucan in barley were studied by single factor and Orthogonal experiment, and the Optimum process parameters of barley germination were obtained. The results showed that the optimum technological conditions were as follows, i.e. The seed were germinated at 30 ℃ for 2 days using the pH 7.0 solution. Under this condition, 1.13 mg/g of total phenol and 2.31% of β-Glucan were obtained. In order to increasing the drying speed, quality and energy consumption in the for Eurotus eryngii drying, the effects were studied, of from the hot-air temperature, hot-air time and vacuum freeze-drying time,on drying rate, sense judgment, rehydration ratio and Amino acids by using the Box-Behnken optimal design. Based on the experimental data, the response surface methodology was employed for the muli-variable experiments and the regression model was established.
