That research work has already been done in two published studies; namely, The Sources of Spenser's Classical Mythology by A. E. Sawtelle and a second work with the same title by A. S. Randall. The connection of Virgil and Spenser has been treated by M. G. Hughes in Virgil and Spenser.

The Catholic Spirit In Modern Poetry, Anna Marie Lacaze

This thesis, submitted to Xavier University in partial fulfillment of requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in 1932, traces the revival of Catholic spirit in modern English poetry following its suppression after the Protestant Reformation. Lacaze argues that this revival began with the Oxford Movement of the nineteenth century and its leader, John Henry Newman, whose conversion to Catholicism and subsequent writing exercised a lasting influence on English literary and religious culture.

The writer has purposed in this essay to trace the rise, development, arid evolution of the comedy. of sensibility, from about the year 1700 to 1177. The movement was one, intricated with not a few interwoven trends. The fusion of sentimentalism into the comedy through social, moral, philosophic, literary, and historical factors has, in part, accounted for the intricacy of the genre, known as the comedy of sensibility. Few authors have considered it worth while to devote much time to the amassed dramatic productions of the eighteenth century. Thus, the complexity ·of the problem is increased.

This thesis examines the historical accuracy of Robert Hugh Benson's historical novels "The King's Achievement," "Come Rack! Come Rope!," and "By What Authority," arguing that despite their fictional romantic elements, these novels authentically portray the historical relationship between the English and Catholic Churches during the reigns of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. Bell opens by distinguishing the aims of the historian from those of the novelist, then situates Benson biographically as a convert from Anglicanism to Catholicism whose religious sensibility shaped his literary work.

[This article treats briefly, in the chronology of their appearance, the substantive uses of the pronoun of the third person neuter: the English and American game usage, two American colloquial or dialectal usages, and the newest usage, emerging from Hollywood, with its adjectival and nominal derivatives.]

The English pronoun of the third person neuter, it, has established itself as a substantive in various meanings, some of which are so widely current as to augur for them considerable vitality.
