The objective of this study is to compare the number and types of speech defectives in a rural area with those of an urban area in Utah. Cache County was chosen as the rural area and Logan City as the urban. The study includes all students in the third to sixth grades in these two areas.

Horacio Quiroga was born in the city of Salto, Uruguay, December 31, 1879. His birth was registered with the Argentinian consulate as his parents were citizens of that country. Quiroga attended school, first at the Instituto Universal de Montevideo, then at the Politécnico de Salto and finally at the University. His natural independence caused him to leave home at an early age.

Five hundred years have passed, and Joan remains a living breathing presence, when those others of her day have become little more than names, a museum of labelled shadows. What is the explanation of this continued interest in a young girl who lived for only nineteen short years in the first part of the fifteenth century? Before attempting to answer this question, let us briefly summarize the facts of her life: she was born, it is believed, on January 6, 1412 in Domremy, a small town in north-eastern France. It is the purpose of this dissertation to reveal Gerard Manley Hopkins as an incarnationist and sacramentalist, and to show how these doctrines manifested throughout his poetry affected the entire scope of his verse and completely colored his attitude toward life-- toward his own existence and that of his fellow man, and especially toward natural phenomena.

Certain Evidences Of Classical Greek Influence On Shelley, George Robert Dietz

English poetry in particular has received both enrichment and motivation from classical sources. The case of Percy Bysshe Shelley, nineteenth century English Romantic poet, provides an excellent illustration of this point. This study will attemp to place before the reader evidence of Shelley's debt to ancient Greece as revealed in his life and his poetry, with particular emphasis upon the influences of Aeschylus and Plato.

Trends In The Treatment Of Women In Fiction, 1890-1910, Gertrude M. Richards

This thesis proposes to examine six novels of the period 1890-1910 for evidence of new trends in the treatment of women in fiction and for signs of social criticism. The novels chosen are major works of representative British and American realists and naturalists. The authors to be considered, Thomas Hardy, Stephen Crane, George Moore, George Gissing, Theodore Dreiser, and Arnold Bennett, were writers who, in varying degrees, came under the influence of the Continental writers who were the cause of the aforementioned controversy.
