"A search of the literature for data on the solubilities of inorganic salts in various anhydrous alcohols will show that comparatively little work has been recorded. Most of the work has been done on salts in aqueous normal alcohols and practically all of this data concerns only methyl and ethyl alcohols. This information shows a wide divergence in results with different workers. Perhaps these differences in data may be attributed to an error in that the alcohols may not have been absolutely anhydrous, for even small traces of water greatly affect the solubility of the salts. The constitution of the ternary mattes CU₂S-FeS-PbS has never been completely investigated. Fulton and Goodner 1) have investigated the binary mattes CU₂S-FeS, CU₂S-PbS, PbSFeS and have shown that the three binaries show eutectics. There has been no attempt however to draw the complete ternary diagram. The following work is intended to be a contribution toward the completion of this diagram by first of all pointing out those mattes which separate on melting into two layers, and second by determining the specific gravities of mattes of different compositions.

It is a well-known fact that, in the electrolysis of a CuSO₄ solution containing iron sulfate, using insoluble anodes, with the depletion of copper, the point is finally reached where the current efficiency becomes zero. This decrease in current efficiency is due to the oxidation of the ferrous sulfate to the ferric condition at the anode, by the oxygen liberated. The resulting ferric sulfate diffuses over to the cathode and there dissolves copper from the cathode according to the chemical equation Cu + Fe₂ (SO₄)₃ = CuSO₄ + 2FeSO_4. This copper, which has …

"The Desloge consolidated Lead Company is located at Desloge, Missouri, in the disseminated lead district of St. Francois County. The crushing plant was built during 1925 to replace crushing installations at three mines. The plant was designed to deliver 2,000 tons of 7 to 9 mm. feed per day to the concentrating plant. Operating conditions have since improved so that the present tonnage is about 2,200 toms of 6.5 mm. feed per day, operating 16 hours.
