Missouri National Recreational River Nebraska And South Dakota General Design
United States Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District
The purpose of this document is to serve as a general design memorandum (GDM) that provides the basic data and delineates the general procedure for implementation of the authorized project. This document provides an extension of the conceptual management program identified in the Management Plan and provides an update of the project cost estimate from 1978 to 1980 price levels.
General scopes of work, based on information available from ongoing studies is presented for recreation, cultural, visual, and fish and wildlife resources and for the bank preservation program.
The other resources outlined in the Management Plan, though not considered essential …

Flora And Fauna A Biliography With Abstracts Or Partial Summaries
United States Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District
The Missouri River from Gavins Point Dam to Ponca State Park, Nebraska was designated, on 10 November 1978, a National Recreational River. The purpose of the designation is to preserve and protect the river reach and to make its resources available for public use.
The Secretary of the Interior has been mandated to administer the river. Acting through the Assistant Secretary for Fish, Wildlife, and Parks, the Secretary of the Interior has entered into a written cooperative agreement with the Secretary of the Army (acting through the Chief of Engineers) to provide for construction and maintenance of erosion control work …

Electronic Properties Of Metal Chloride Intercalants Of Graphite*, **, John A. Woollam, M. B. Dowell, A. Yavrouian, A. G. Lozier, G. Matulka
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering: Faculty Publications
The Shubnikov-deHaas (SdH) effect has been used to study the electronic properties of graphite intercalated with PdC12 (stage 3), FeC13 (stages 2, 4, 6, and 11), CuC12 (stage 1), and WC16 (stage 5). For the palladium chloride, ferric chloride, and copper chloride intercalants the SdH spectra are similar: these show frequencies of approximately, 27, 80, 380, and 550 Tesla for fields parallel to the c-axis. The effective masses have been measured for each of these carriers, and are of the order of 0.1 m0, where m0 is the free electron mass. These carriers …
Evaluation Of The Fhwa Highway Traffic Noise Prediction Procedure (Snap 1) [Jan. 1980], Kenneth R. Agent
Evaluation Of The Fhwa Highway Traffic Noise Prediction Procedure (Snap 1) [Jan. 1980], Kenneth R. Agent
Kentucky Transportation Center Research Report
Traffic noise prediction procedures are used in the design of new highways to determine if noise is limited to specific levels. A previous study evaluated the procedure outlined in NCHRP Report 117 and developed a correction factor which was incorporated into Kentucky's noise prediction procedure. This adjusted NCHRP 117 procedure has been used in Kentucky for the past several years. The Federal Highway Administration has developed a new procedure to predict traffic noise levels. The objective of this study was to evaluate the new prediction procedure, designated as SNAP 1.
Comparisons of measured and predicted noise levels showed that predictions …

Rutting Models For Asphaltic Concrete And Dense-Graded Aggregate From Repeated-Load Tests, David L. Allen, Robert C. Deen
Rutting Models For Asphaltic Concrete And Dense-Graded Aggregate From Repeated-Load Tests, David L. Allen, Robert C. Deen
Kentucky Transportation Center Research Report
The development of models to predict rutting in the asphaltic concrete and dense-graded aggregate layers of flexible pavements is reported. The models were developed from data obtained from repeated-load triaxial tests. Details of equipment and methodology are reported.
An asphaltic concrete base mixture was tested at temperatures of 45 F, 77 F, and 100 F. Longitudinal stress levels of 20 psi, 50 psi, and 80 psi were used. The tests were performed unconfined. Most of the specimens were tested to 10,000 cycles of loading. Three sequences of loading were used.
It is noted that temperature and stress level are extremely …

Structural Stability Research Council: Proceedings 1980, Structural Stability Research Council
CCFSS Library (1939 - present)
One of the purposes of the Council is to maintain a forum where structural stability aspects of the behavior of frames, columns and other compression-type elements in metal and compression structures can be presented for evaluation and discussion. The Annual Technical Session provides an opportunity to carry out this function. Summaries of the technical papers, the panel discussion and minutes of the business meeting are recorded in the following pages. The attendance list is also included.

Missouri Dam Safety Inspection Reports
This report presents the results of field inspection and evaluation of Ditch Creek Dam. It was prepared under the National Program of Inspection of Non-Federal Dams.
The inspection results indicate problems with the spillway adequacy. Although the dam is capable of passing the PMF without overtopping, the lack of a proper spillway and discharge channel and the need to pass runoff over a public transportation route (State Highway H) indicates a deficiency at this facility.

It was prepared under the National Program of Inspection of Non-Federal Dams.
This dam has been classified as unsafe, non-emergency by the St. Louis District as a result of the application of the following criteria:
a. This dam retains less than 50 percent of the Probable Maximum Flood without overtopping the embankment.

Abutment-Thermal Interaction Of A Composite Bridge, David B. Lewis
Abutment-Thermal Interaction Of A Composite Bridge, David B. Lewis
CCFSS Library (1939 - present)
A two-span test structure, with tie-rods to similate approach-slab forces, was subjected to thermal loading. The resultant strains and deflections are correlated with those obtained from a prior theoretical study. It was concluded ~hat the theoretical procedure provides a rational method for predicting the thermal behavior of composite-girder bridge structures.
The Effect Of Availability Improvement Of A Nuclear Power Plant On The Cost Of Generating Electricity, Seyyed Mohammad Reza Nejat
The Effect Of Availability Improvement Of A Nuclear Power Plant On The Cost Of Generating Electricity, Seyyed Mohammad Reza Nejat
Doctoral Dissertations
"The objective of this investigation is to study the economic benefits in operating a nuclear power plant as a result of improving the availability of the secondary (steam) loop of the plant. A new method has been developed to obtain availability, frequency of failure, probability and frequency of operation, cycle time, and uptime for different capacity states of a parallel-series system having components with failure and repair rates distributed exponentially. The method has been applied to different subsystems, systems, and the secondary loop as a whole. The effect of having spare parts for several components, as measured by savings in …
