"The purpose of this thesis is the drawing of a comparison between the use of the colored filters, which are normally employed in the multiplex aeroprojector by various mapping agencies throughout the country, and the use therein of Polaroid filters. The filters in the aeroprojector serve to break the projection of a stereoscopic pair of photographs into two impressions which are viewed separately by each eye of the observer, thus providing the main requirement for the observance of a three-dimensional effect. this stereoscopic effect is utilized in the multiplex plotting machine for the delineation of contours...In order to form a …

A Study Of Methods For The Purification And The Removal Of Color From Trinitrotoluene Wash Waters, William Wilson

"Symmetrical Trinitrotoluene is stable in the presence of moisture, but the nonsymmetrical trinitrotoluenes permit replacement of a nitro group with the formation of a nitrated cresol and nitrous acid. Nitrated cresols form salts similar to the picrates. To avoid these nonsymmetrical trinitrotoluenes the Ordinance Department, U. S. A., requires that Grade I trinitrotoluene have a solidification point of at least 80.2⁰C.². Numerous methods for purifying the crude trinitrotoluene and others for separating the nitrotoluenes have been suggested"--Introduction, page 1.

On January 16, 1908, the State Board of Land Commissioners, on behalf of the State of Utah, undertook to build a reclamation project in the Sevier River Valley, intended to reclaim between 25,000 to 35,000 acres of the virgin lands lying on the west side of Sevier River in Sevier and San Pete Counties. From January, 1908 to January, 1914, the State expended nearly $1,000,000 for the construction of the reservior dm and the canal leading from it. Since that time nearly $200,000 has been spent for supplementary construction. This money was supplied by the State Reservior Land Grant Fund, …

Earth has been used for building dwellings from time immemorial. One method of use, superior to others, and which was known to the Romans has been preserved by tradition .t o modern times. This method consists of ramming slightly moist, specially selected earth, without the addition of straw or other material, between movable forms, and is known by itsFrench name, " pise de terre," which means "rammed earth." Pise de terre is a reliable building material when properly handled and is admirably adapted to structures on farms distant from transport routes.
