Irrigation District Canal Automation - Cardd, Charles M. Burt

The first rule regarding irrigation district canal automation is that there is no single "best" method of automations. The locations of buffer reservoirs, the ability to allow water to spill at the ends of canals, the storage capacity of canal pools, and the topography will also play key roles in deciding if automation is desirable, and what type of automation should be used. These typical engineering considerations must also be coupled with recognition of the limitations and abilities of irrigation district staff regarding maintenance and trouble shooting of sophisticated controls.

This study investigated the impact of birthdate biorhythm on aviation accidents involving Hellenic Air Force fighter pilots. A list of names, birthdates, and the dates of accidents was compiled from accidents involving pilots who had flown fighter aircraft and have reacted improperly even though they had sufficient time to implement the proper procedures. The list was acquired from the History Office of the Hellenic Air Force. A computer program was acquired for the specific purpose of tracking the pilot's birthdate biorhythm cycles. Reducing treatment costs give us the incentive to minimize the volume of Wastewater effluent. Also, the national goal of zero discharge of pollutants to the waterways by 1985 provided further incentive -to minimize the flow of wastewaters.

A successful treatment of the wastewater discharged from the secondary effluent of the petroleum refinery plant to economically acceptable conditions offers a challenge to our technology.

Thin Y-Ba-Cu-O superconducting films were fabricated reproducibly on MgO (100) substrates by two different processes ; (1) deposition at a low substrate temperature fiom a single sintered YBa₂Cu_3.3O_x target using RF diode reactive sputtering followed by a post-annealing at around 830 ° C ; (2) deposition at the crystallization temperature under oxidizing atmosphere. The wastewater produced as a result of trucking station activities has some major characteristics such as high COD (26,880 mg/1-42,925 mg/1) and BOD (12,278 mg/1-7,265 mg/1), high COD to BOD ratio (3.49-3.69), high pH range (3.72-11.7), and high grease content (480 mg/1-1,960 mg/1). Therefore, prior to any treatment, it is important to provide some sort of pre-treatment for pH adjustment and grease/oil removal.

The examination of cardiovascular fluid dynamics provides insights into the working of the cardiovascular system and ways to improve the design of implantable bioprosthetic valve designs. This investigation examines the fluid flow of arterial systems, and ways to apply this knowledge to the valves implanted into patients.

A series of 23 intact core segments was obtained from two distinct deep subsurface geological formations, the Middendorf and the Cape Fear formations, underlying the southeastern coastal plain of South Carolina. The Middendorf formation in this region consists of permeable, saturated, sandy sediments; the Cape Fear formation consists mainly of less permeable sediments. The core segments were separated by vertical distances ranging from several centimeters to 48 m. A review is presented which covers the basic theory of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) with regard to angular momentum, magnetic moments, and the classical mechanical description of the NMR experiment. Longitudinal (T,) and Transverse (T2) relaxation times are defined as well as the basic pulse sequences used for their measurement. The Physical Durability And Electrical Resistivity Of Indiana Bottom Ash, Te-Chih Ke

This research assessed the long-term performance (durability) and the environmental effect (corrosiveness to adjacent metal structures) of Indiana bottom ashes, based mainly on laboratory investigation. The 5-cycle sodium sulfate soundness tests and the 50-cycle freeze-thaw tests were conducted to examine the physical durability. Four electrochemical characteristics (electrical resistivity, pH, soluble chloride, and soluble sulfate) were used to estimate the corrosion potential of Indiana bottom ashes.

Evaluation criteria for durability and corrosiveness of bottom ash, based on appropriate specifications for aggregates and past experiences for soils, were developed. The comparison of test results and the above criteria shows that Indiana bottom …
