Test 055: Allis-Chalmers 18-30, Nebraska Tractor Test Lab

Nebraska Tractor Tests

All tractors tested at the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory were certified by their manufacturers as being stock model machines, conforming to specifications filed with the application for test. No special or high-test fuels were used except as recommended by the manufacturer as necessary.

All results within the official tractor test report were actually attained in tests and are without correction or allowances for friction, temperature, altitude, etc. The results were initially accomplished with the tractor in charge of skilled operators employed by the University.

Unless otherwise noted, each tractor was apparently in good condition at the end of the testing …

Nebraska Tractor Tests

ABOUT THE TEST REPORT AND USE OF THE DATA The test data contained in this report are a tabulation of the results of a series of tests. Due to the restricted format of these pages, only a limited amount of data and not all of the tractor specifications are included. The full OECD report contains usually about 30 pages of data and specifications. The test data were obtained for each tractor under similar conditions and therefore, provide a means of comparison of performance based on a limited set of reported data. EXPLANATION OF THE TEST PROCEDURES Purpose The purpose of …

The Factors Influencing The Price Of Metals On The Metal Market, Thomas Patrick F. Walsh Jan 1920

The Factors Influencing The Price Of Metals On The Metal Market, Thomas Patrick F. Walsh

Masters Theses

"Every year the various engineering and industrial magazines print curves showing the rise and fall of metal stocks throughout the year. to the ordinary reader, these curves are seldom intelligible; he sees the ups and downs; he knows that the prices have risen and fallen; but he rarely knows what causes these changes -- and the curves themselves never tell. This paper tries to remedy this defect; it draws its curves, and, in the light of historical events, which it recounts, tries to determine the causes for the fluctuations in the market. it further places these factors on the curve …

Rules For Official Tractor Tests, Nebraska Tractor Test Lab, Agicultural Experiment Station Dec 1919

Rules For Official Tractor Tests, Nebraska Tractor Test Lab, Agicultural Experiment Station

Nebraska Tractor Tests

The Nebraska Tractor Law known as House Roll 85, 37th session, which became effective July 15, 1919, was enacted to encourage the manufacture and sale of imporved types of tractors and to contribute to a more successful use of the tractor for farming.

It was thought that the best method of accomplishing these objects would be to require a tractor of each model sold in the State to be tested at the State University and to have the results of these tests made public. These tests will give reliable information on the power capacity and fuel consumtion of each tractor …

Rules For Tractor Demonstrations, Nebraska Tractor Test Lab Jan 1919

Rules For Tractor Demonstrations, Nebraska Tractor Test Lab

Nebraska Tractor Tests

The object of these rules, instructions and data is to make all tractor demonstrations of this kind comparable and of the greatest educational value. Anyone who has conducted tractor demonstrations in the past has realized the necessity of some standard rules to follow and those who afterwards have referred to the results, deplore the lack of uniformity in the demonstrations and the data. For those who have not had this experience will find that it is a great help to have satisfactory rules to follow.

The value of these demonstrations depends largely upon the accuracy of the data reported on …

Land Drainage In Central Iowa, Ernst Lorenze Chamberlain Jan 1916

Land Drainage In Central Iowa, Ernst Lorenze Chamberlain

Professional Degree Theses

"The problems encountered in land drainage are comparatively simple when seen from an engineering point of view. Most problems do not require a fine scientific or mathematical analysis but are rather questions to be decided by good judgment or practical common sense. The most difficult problems encountered are financial, legal and political, therefore, in this paper considerable attention is paid to the Iowa drainage law, facts learned from practical drainage men and to the organization and operation of the different financing systems for drainage"--page 1.

Flotation Applied To Silicate Sludge, Yaro Klepel, Greene Erskine Jan 1916

Flotation Applied To Silicate Sludge, Yaro Klepel, Greene Erskine

Bachelors Theses

"Within the past few years great success has been made of the flotation of sulfids, and to a certain extent of carbonates.

Since sulfids are easily recovered by flotation it seems practicable that silicates could be made to float by first sulfidizing them, and then subjecting them to ordinary flotation treatment.

This problem involves the treatment of a silicate sludge obtained from the Joplin district, the sludge will easily pass through a 250 mesh screen. At the present time this sludge is being sent to the tailings pond.

The experimental work of this thesis was done along the line of …

Ratio Of The Thermal And Electrical Conductivities For Gas Carbon, Oscar Alan Randolph Jan 1911

Ratio Of The Thermal And Electrical Conductivities For Gas Carbon, Oscar Alan Randolph

Bachelors Theses

"The method of F. Kohlrausch for the determination of the ratio of the heat conductivity upside down gamma , to the electrical conductivity k of a substance is of practical value as well as of theoretical interest. Of practical value because there may be obtained from it - with much great ease than by direct methods - the heat conductivity which has immediate applications, not only to the design and construction of furnaces, but to various other matters of such import; of theoretical interest to the physicist, because of the Wiedmann-Franz and its consequent relation to the electron theory; to …

Reheating Compressed Air By Internal Combustion, Norman L. Ohnsorg Jan 1910

Reheating Compressed Air By Internal Combustion, Norman L. Ohnsorg

Professional Degree Theses

"The perfection of a reheater of high efficiency has been discussed and experimented upon for a period of time nearly as long as the application of compressed air itself. At the present time all the reheaters are by the external combustion of fuel as in the case of stoves or furnaces, where the air pipes are carried through the flames or is surrounded by steam pipes, or by some similar contrivance, all of which the heating efficiency of the fuel upon the compressed air is low, due to the great loss by radiation, and hot escaping gases. Reheating compressed air …

Graphical Representation Of Compressed Air Formulae, John Thomas Vitt, Paul Andrew Philippi Jan 1907

Graphical Representation Of Compressed Air Formulae, John Thomas Vitt, Paul Andrew Philippi

Bachelors Theses

"Air during compression and expansion obeys the same laws as do other gases and these laws have been mathematically stated by purely rational formulae. Most of these formulae are logarithmic and their use involves a considerable amount of work. The object of this thesis is to present these formulae in such form that problems involving their use may be readily and easily solved. It was decided to present them graphically and the accompanying curves are the results of our labors"--page 1.

Design Of A Lead Blast Furnace, Walter Irving Phillips, Andrew Jackson Seltzer

Bachelors Theses

Analytical Determination Of Copper Products, Charles Dosh Smith Jan 1905

Analytical Determination Of Copper Products, Charles Dosh Smith

Bachelors Theses

"It is a well known fact that the presence of impurities in copper products has been a source of annoyance to the Chemist. The object of this thesis was to make myself familiar with the actions of different impurities in copper products, and the methods for the determination of Arsenic in the same"--page 1.

Neutralization Of Free Acid (H₃P O₄) In Commercial Mono-Calcium Phosphate (Ca H₄ (Po₄), George William Harris, Harry Adam Grine

Bachelors Theses

"The object of this thesis has been a systematic research based on the characteristic properties and reactions of mono-calcium phosphate, Ca H₄ (PO₄)₂, tending towards the development of a process for neutralizing the free phosphoric acid, H₃PO₄ formed during its manufacture"--page 1.
