Nebraska Tractor Tests

EXPLANATION OF TEST REPORT: Fordson Dexta 957 E TEST A: The manufacturer's representative operates the tractor for a minimum of 12 hours using light to heavy drawbar loads in each gear. This serves as a period for limber up, general observation and adjustments. Adjustments that are permissible include valve tappet clearance, breaker ,point gap, spark plug gaps, clutch and others of a similar nature. No new parts or accessories can be installed without having mention made of it in the report. No data' are recorded during this preliminary run except the time that the engine is operated. Engineer Intelligence Study No. 191, Terrain Analysis, Alaska Slope Region, Alaska, 1959, Military Geography Branch, Usgs, Robert Bolin , Depositor

United States Department of Defense Military Intelligence

The summary on Page 5 is paraphrased as follows. This digital document is a generalized description of the Arctic Slope region -- an area covering approximately 70,000 square miles. Access to the region and the feasibility of various access routes are discussed. Location and extent of natural fuel supplies are given. Factors controlling outdoor work feasibility are summarized graphically on Page 19. A terrain analysis of each of the three major physiographic provinces of the region. Those provinces are the Arctic Coastal Plain, Arctic Foothills, and Brooks Range provinces. Geographic factors which affected cross-country movement, construction, and water supply within …

17-Year Report On The Owensboro-Hartford Co-Operative Investigation Of Joint Spacing In Concrete Pavements, Milton Evans Jr., William B. Drake Jan 1959

17-Year Report On The Owensboro-Hartford Co-Operative Investigation Of Joint Spacing In Concrete Pavements, Milton Evans Jr., William B. Drake

Kentucky Transportation Center Research Report

In 1940, the Kentucky Department of Highways constructed an experimental concrete pavement which was one of a group of six built in co-operation with the Bureau of Public Roads by the States of Minnesota, California, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri and Oregon. The purpose of these projects was to study and evaluate the performance of such pavements over a period of years with specific regard to types of joints and spacings. The Kentucky project, consisting of 6.27 miles, was constructed in Daviess County, beginning approximately 6 miles south of Owensboro on US Route 231 (formerly Ky. Route 71).

Masters Theses

"It was the purpose of the investigation described herein to find the answers to some of the questions which arise with the use of an ammonium nitrate--non nitroglycerine--mixture as an explosive, such as

a) the effect of the percentage of fuel oil in the mixture

b) the effect of the loading density of the mixture

c) the effect of the diameter of the charge

d) the effect of the particle size of the ammonium nitrate

e) the effect of different reducing fuels

f) the effect of different primers"--Introduction, pages 5-6.

Report Of Engineering Research With Recommendations For Strengthening The Program, Vaughn E. Hansen

Reports

Progress of Engineering Research: The growth initiated with the reorganization of the Engineering Experiment Station in 1957-58 has been stready and consistant through 1958-59. Every sign points to continued expansion through the coming year. This growth is shown in Table 1. The number of active projects this year has increased to nineteen, the funds allocated for Engineering research were $53,861 plus $17,826 to contract research, exclusive of approximately $75,000 in the Agricultural Experiment Station. The number of staff members engaged in research is now twelve. Contract research money has been obtained to finance four projects which were financed previously with …

Graphical Solution Of Concentration At Production Wells Of Injected Radioactive Water Tracers, George E. Vaughn Jr. Jan 1959

Graphical Solution Of Concentration At Production Wells Of Injected Radioactive Water Tracers, George E. Vaughn Jr.

Masters Theses

"With the advent of field research in which radioactive isotopes are used as tracers for water injected in secondary-recovery operations, knowledge of the probable transit time between wells of an injected tracer, its concentration at detection points, and the resultant optimum injection concentration has become important. Both detection and, consequently, injection concentrations of radioactive tracers are at least in part functions of the loss of tracer for various reasons, flow characteristics between wells, the rate of decay of radioactive emission, and the sensitivity of the detection apparatus. A method, based on the characteristics of a homogeneous 5-spot system, has been …

Stability Of Rectangular Plates By Arbitrary Deflection Method, James Arthur Jones Jan 1959

Stability Of Rectangular Plates By Arbitrary Deflection Method, James Arthur Jones

Masters Theses

"Many engineering structures use thin rectangular plates as members. These plates may be loaded and supported in numerous ways. The edges may be freely supported, rigidly supported, or supported by elastic members. The load may be applied normal to the plane of the plate, in which case the problem becomes essentially one of bending. If the load is applied in the plane of the plate, placing it in compression, the problem becomes one of stability.

This investigation is concerned with the stability of plates rigidly supported on all edges and having a compressive load applied to two opposite edges of …

Application Of Statistical Methods To Evaluation Of Mineral Deposits, Francis R. Saupé Jan 1959

Application Of Statistical Methods To Evaluation Of Mineral Deposits, Francis R. Saupé

Masters Theses

"Only in recent years have statistical methods been applied to evaluation of ore reserves. An attempt is made in this study to prepare an outline to be followed throughout the exploration in order that statistical methods can be applied to valuation problems. Particular emphasis is given to the preliminary requirements to a statistical approach. Representative parameters, sampling pattern, and sample size are discussed in separate chapters"--Abstract, page iii.
