In recent years, computational reproducibility, which refers to achieving consistent results upon rerunning an experiment, has become one of the major concerns of various research communities. Jupyter Notebook, as a web-based computational notebook application, offers useful features for running and publishing computational experiments through interactive environments. However, rerunning notebooks does not always reproduce the experimental results. Assessment Of Total Petroleum Carbon And Heavy Metals Of Some Selected Plants Grown In Crude Oil Polluted Soils Using Gc-Fid, Pius O. Adah, Ndem E. Edu, Reagan B. Agbor, Henry B. Kogbara

This study was focused on assessing the phytoremediation potentials of some selected plant species on crude oil contaminated soils. Five plant species were cultivated in soils polluted with crude oil at 10, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mg kg-1. The results revealed that there were significant reduction in THC contents of soil ameliorated with the various plants species compared to the control group increases with increasing concentration of crude oil pollutant in soil. This research presents an innovative and sustainable solution by designing triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) for energy harvesting. The fabrication process of TENGs includes PDMS and aluminum. The two single electrode mode TENG was designed one is plain PDMS/Al and the other is porous PDMS/Al TENG devices. The porous PDMS/Al TENG device generated a voltage and current of 7 V and 5 nA for 2 cm ´ 2 cm device area. Moreover, the TENG system was employed to successfully charge capacitors, and recognize various animal sounds. In this work, two sensing systems were researched in order to improve in situ environmental monitoring. The first is a pH and Total Alkalinity sensor used to determine these characteristics of sea water. I explored the facets of this sensor over a 7-week internship with Dr. Ellen Briggs in her lab in summer of 2023. The second is a more holistic sensing system that reads temperature, turbidity, and pressure used for studying environmental characteristics of Alaskan bever ponds. The research presented in this thesis focuses on the design, development, and evaluation of a fluorescence detection system. The system is implemented primarily as an Android application, Auto Camera, which leverages smartphone cameras to capture and analyze fluorescent images. The application provides a user-friendly interface with some configurable features like exposure time, ISO speed, and storage limit; as well as defining detection thresholds and setting acquisition intervals. Objective: This study evaluated relationships between physical characteristics of nursing home residences and quality-of-care measures.

Design: This was a cross-sectional ecologic study. The dependent variables were 5 Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Nursing Home Compare database long-stay quality measures (QMs) during 2019: percentage of residents who displayed depressive symptoms, percentage of residents who were physically restrained, percentage of residents who experienced 1 or more falls resulting in injury, percentage of residents who received antipsychotic medication, and percentage of residents who received anti-anxiety medication. Background Attributes defining the Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) are associated with disproportionate exposures to environmental hazards and differential health outcomes among communities. The dynamics between SDoH, disproportionate environmental exposures, and differential health outcomes are often specific to micro-geographic areas.

Methods This study focused on children less than 20 years of age who lived in Douglas County, Nebraska, during 2016–2019. Coral reefs, supporting 25% of marine biodiversity, confront challenges from local and global impacts like overfishing, runoff, acidification, and warming. Crustose Coralline Algae (CCA), pivotal for reef structure and coral settlement, are underrepresented in research. Current methods like Coral Point Count with Excel Extensions (CPCe) have limitations, relying on image quality and being time-consuming. This paper proposes computer vision and Mask R-CNN, a supervised machine learning model, for CCA analysis in reef images, considering color, texture, and shape. Exposure to PM2.5 has been known to cause a variety of serious health consequences. Quantifying and investigating the health effects of PM2.5 pollution are imperative to understand and collect scientific evidence for supporting policies and associated actions. In this paper, we reviewed published environ-mental epidemiological studies and health risk assessments evaluating the health impacts of PM2.5 exposure in the PubMed database to identify the attributes of each method and aggregate the health impact results to perform analyses and summaries. This study was conducted on a seasonal basis in five (5) stations along the central Algerian coast between April 2013 and April 2014 aboard professional fishing boats. Horizontal plankton tows with a WP2-type net were used to collect ichthyoplankton samples. At each station, temperature, salinity, and chlorophyll-a levels were measured. We identified the larvae of 18 species from 11 different families by sorting ichthyoplankton (Clupeidae, Engraulidae, Gobidae, Gonostomatidae, Mugilidae, Myctophidae, Scombridae, Sparidae, Carangidae, Labridae, Blennidae). In this research, a taxi travel time based Geographically Weighted Regression model (GWR) is proposed and utilized to model the public housing price in the case study of Singapore. In addition, a comparison between the proposed taxi data driven GWR and other models, such as ordinary least squares model (OLS), GWR model based on Euclidean distance and GWR model based on public transport travel time, have also been carried out. Many fisheries employ fishing lights to manipulate the behaviors of target fish and to attract them toward the light; however, relatively few long-time observations of fish attraction have been performed in the field. Here, an underwater observation deck was used to examine the differences in the fish-attracting effect of light-emitting diode (LED) lights on the number of attracted fish and on their behavior in the field, using white-edged rockfish as the target species. Quantitative sampling of organisms is often used to provide information in ecological studies, monitor populations, and aid in biodiversity projects. Many studies involve the quantitative sampling of spiders. In this meta-analysis study, 207 peer-reviewed journal articles formed the basis of an initial data set for a quantitative analysis of spider collection techniques. Data collected included country of study, mode of study, trapping techniques used, spider diversity, and number of specimens collected. Our meta-analysis gathered research articles that included 33 different countries of study. Trapping techniques greatly vary depending on the habitat in which spiders dwell. This study was conducted to examine, at the county level, the relationship between pediatric cancer incidence rate and atrazine and nitrate mean concentrations in surface and groundwater. A negative binomial regression analysis was performed to investigate the association between central nervous system (CNS) tumors, leukemia, lymphoma, and atrazine and nitrate mean concentrations in groundwater. The age-adjusted brain and other CNS cancer incidence was higher than the national average in 63% of the Nebraska counties. After controlling for the counties socio-economic status and nitrate concentrations in groundwater, counties with groundwater atrazine concentrations above 0.0002 μg/L had a higher incidence rate for …

งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อปรับปรุงประสิทธิภาพของโครงข่ายประสาทเทียมสำหรับการจำแนกยุงโดยใช้การเรียนรู้แบบถ่ายโอน การเพิ่มข้อมูล และเทคนิคสัญญาณตกหายเชิงพื้นที่ ยุง 7 ชนิดรวบรวมจากหลายจังหวัดของประเทศไทย ได้แก่ Aedes aegypti, Aedes albopictus, Aedes vexans, Anopheles tessellatus, Culex quinquefasciatus, Culex vishnui และยุงชนิดอื่นๆ รวมถึง Aedes aegypti, Aedes albopictus และ Culex quinquefasciatus ที่เลี้ยงในภาควิชาปรสิตวิทยา คณะแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ได้นำมาใช้ในการศึกษาครั้งนี้ ภาพยุงถูกถ่าย 3 ถึง 5 ครั้งต่อตัวอย่าง และครอบตัดรอบๆ ยุง จากนั้นปรับขนาดเป็น 512 x 512 พิกเซล หลังจากนั้นจึงนำภาพไปใช้โดยใช้เทคนิคการเพิ่มข้อมูล ได้แก่ การซูม การหมุน การครอบตัดแบบสุ่ม ความสว่างแบบสุ่ม สีสุ่ม และการฉีดสัญญาณรบกวนแบบเกาส์เซียน แบบจำลอง VGG-16 ประยุกต์เทคนิคการเรียนรู้การถ่ายโอนโดยใช้น้ำหนัก ImageNet เป็นน้ำหนักเริ่มต้น และดัดแปลงเป็นแบบจำลอง VGG-16 แบบสองอินพุต นอกจากนี้ แบบจำลองยังใช้เลเยอร์ดรอปเอาต์เชิงพื้นที่หลังจากบล็อกคอนโวลูชั่น โมเดล VGG-16 สองอินพุตสามแบบได้รับการพัฒนา ได้แก่ VGG-16 แบบรวมในช่วงต้น, VGG-16 แบบรวมตรงกลาง และ VGG-16 แบบรวมในภายหลัง และแบบจำลองทั้งชุดได้รับการพัฒนาโดยใช้ผลลัพธ์ของแบบจำลอง 3 แบบเป็นอินพุตสำหรับการจำแนกยุง โมเดลเหล่านี้มีความแม่นยำในการจำแนกโดยเฉลี่ยที่ 95.76%, 97.08%, 96.76% และ 99.44% จากการฝึกและทดสอบ 10 ครั้ง ตามลำดับ นอกจากนี้ ยังนำแบบจำลองเหล่านี้ ไปใช้ในการบริการจำแนกยุงผ่านแอปพลิเคชัน LINE และอนุญาตให้ผู้เชี่ยวชาญขอภาพยุงและส่งข้อมูลผลการจำแนกยุงไปยังระบบผ่านแอปพลิเคชัน LINE ไปยังฐานข้อมูลได้

Recent studies observed a correlation between estrogen-related cancers and groundwater atrazine in eastern Nebraska counties. However, the mechanisms of human exposure to atrazine are unclear because low groundwater atrazine concentration was observed in counties with high cancer incidence despite having the highest atrazine usage. We studied groundwater atrazine fate in high atrazine usage Nebraska counties. Data were collected from Quality Assessed Agrichemical Contaminant Nebraska Groundwater, Parameter–Elevation Regressions on Independent Slopes Model (PRISM), and water use databases. Agrichemicals, chemicals used to maximize crop and animal production, can lead to water quality concerns when these chemicals run off into surface and groundwater after precipitation events. In Nebraska, one such chemical is atrazine, a suspected carcinogen. This study evaluated the association between atrazine in surface and groundwater, in relation to the incidence of pediatric cancer in Nebraska watersheds over 30 years (1 January 1987 to 31 December 2016). The surge in artisanal gold mining (AGM) activities and the associated environmental impact in Ghana have elicited several stakeholders' attempts to curb the problem. However, due to little understanding of the underlying issues, these efforts have been ineffective.
