Subspace Decomposition For Spatial Parameter Estimation, Arthur Grik
Subspace Decomposition For Spatial Parameter Estimation, Arthur Grik
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Passive emitter localization is an important capability for wireless sensing, interference detection, and spectrum awareness. Classical timing-based localization methods estimate emitter position from differences in signal arrival time across distributed sensor platforms, but their performance depends on precise receiver synchronization and favorable signal bandwidth characteristics. This thesis investigates subspace-decomposition-based spatial parameter estimation as an alternative approach in which directional information is extracted from coherent antenna-array measurements. This work develops the theoretical foundation and signal-processing framework for angle-of-arrival estimation. Various spatial parameter estimators are presented as supporting array-processing methods before focusing on a well-known subspace-decomposition-based approach called the Multiple SIgnal Classification …

Joint Channel And Phase Noise Estimation For Mmwave Ofdm Systems Using Adaptive Kalman Filtering, Kwame Salum Ibwe
Tanzania Journal of Science
This manuscript presents a joint channel and phase-noise estimation framework for millimeter-wave (mmWave) OFDM systems based on an adaptive extended Kalman filter (EKF). The proposed method formulates a unified state-space model that simultaneously tracks time-varying multipath channels and oscillator phase noise, a critical impairment in 5G NR frequency range 2 (FR2) and emerging 6G transceivers. An innovation-based covariance adaptation mechanism is introduced to enhance estimation accuracy while maintaining computational efficiency. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach achieves up to a 5 dB SNR gain at a target BER of 10⁻³, maintains NMSE below 10⁻³ for linewidths up to 200 …

Journal of Electrochemistry
Hybrid ion conductors that transport multiple ionic conductive species provide a useful platform for understanding how mixed-ion transport governs ionic conductivity within a single phase. However, the controlled introduction of multiple mobile ions into solid-state electrolytes and a mechanistic understanding of their migration within the framework remain challenging. Herein, a skeleton-retained Li+↔Na+ cationic exchange was used to simultaneously induce Li+ and Na+ cations into the NASICON-type framework of Li3–xNaxZr2Si2PO12 (0 < x < 3). We show that the interpenetration of NaO6 and NaO8 coordination polyhedra significantly influences the ionic conductivity of hybrid ion conductors. Computational …

Optimal Design And Techno-Economic And Environmental Analysis Of A Hybrid Solar Pv-Battery-Generator System For Off-Grid Telecom Towers And Rural Households: Case Of Misughaa Village In Tanzania, Ibrahim Mwammenywa, Martha Mwaikenda
Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)
Telecommunication services are pivotal for the socio-economic development of communities, regions, and countries. Extensive and reliable telecom infrastructure enables populations to leverage development opportunities and bridge the urban-rural divide. However, extending these services to rural areas often necessitates the deployment of telecommunication towers in locations lacking national grid access. Consequently, service providers typically rely on diesel generators (DG) for power, which introduces significant challenges. These challenges include a high operational expenditure (OPEX), rendering telecom services unaffordable for rural communities, and substantial environmental pollution from greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This study aims to present an optimal design, encompassing sizing and economic …

Energy Efficient Load Balancing In Multi-Band Cellular Networks Via Reinforcement Learning, Ahmed Shoukry El Soukkary
Energy Efficient Load Balancing In Multi-Band Cellular Networks Via Reinforcement Learning, Ahmed Shoukry El Soukkary
Theses and Dissertations
This thesis investigates energy-efficient load balancing in homogeneous multi-band cellular networks through the joint design of user association (UA) and transmit power allocation (PA). The original mixed-integer nonlinear formulation is decomposed into two coupled yet tractable subproblems: a UA stage and a PA stage for high-frequency bands. For UA, a SINR-ratio-based heuristic is proposed to prioritize users that are most sensitive to suboptimal band assignments, and it is benchmarked against a Max- SINR baseline. For PA, the high-band power control problem is addressed using reinforcement learning, where a Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) agent learns power levels and band-activation decisions under …

Matching Two Long Interferometric Pathlengths Using Low Temporal Coherence Light For Finding Hong–Ou–Mandel Dip, Keith A. Wyman, Noah S. Everett, Anil K. Patnaik
Faculty Publications
Hong–Ou–Mandel (HOM) dip from a biphoton source in a two-photon interferometer provides a myriad of quantum tools for quantum communication and sensing. But the stringent requirements for spatial coherence between the photon pair makes it prohibitively difficult to observe high-fidelity HOM dip in long-distance free-space implementations, e.g., for the photon pairs involved in quantum communication need to match the two path lengths within a few 10 s of micron because of the short coherence width of the two-photon wave-packet. While many techniques for the pathlength balancing of two interferometric arms have been studied and applied extensively, such balancing is further …

Decoding Stock Market Movements: The Role Of Unemployment And Volatility, Bipllab Roy, Suparna Bhattacharjee
Northeast Journal of Complex Systems (NEJCS)
This study investigates how unemployment and market volatility interact with stock prices in the Indian context, framing the stock–labour–volatility nexus as a complex adaptive system (CAS) rather than a set of linear, time-invariant relationships. Using verified secondary data on unemployment, India VIX, and NSE stock indices for 2013–2023, we first apply simple and multiple regression as a descriptive baseline. Results show a strong negative association between unemployment and stock prices (R ≈ 0.824, R² ≈ 0.68, p < 0.05), consistent with Keynesian demand-side channels, while the linear VIX–stock relationship is weak and statistically insignificant (R² ≈ 0.07, p > 0.05), consistent with the expectation that volatility operates through non-linear, regime-dependent mechanisms not captured by OLS.
Importantly, we document and transparently disclose critical …
