Career Education: A Third Grade Mass Production Project, Jack Julian Hanson
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
This study was undertaken to determine if a mass production project could be used as an effective method to acquaint third grade students with the world of work through practical experience and provide information about specialization of labor and industrial organization.
The literature reviewed included three areas concerning career education at the elementary school level: general education, industrial education, and guidance. The writer, a former industrial arts teacher, developed the total teaching unit. The actual instruction was carried out with the support of the teachers and counselors of the participating classes.
The experimental group for the study includes six third …
A Survey Of Attitudes Toward A Public School System, Darwin A. Winke
A Survey Of Attitudes Toward A Public School System, Darwin A. Winke
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
The purpose of this study was to ascertain the attitude of the public toward the public school in a small Iowa school district, Gladbrook, and compare this with the public attitudes on a national survey conducted by George Gallup. This survey was conducted because public attitudes towards public schools are continually changing and because very little information about the public's attitude towards the school in Gladbrook, Iowa, was available.
Reviewing the literature was the first phase of the study. The literature in this field was divided into four areas: (1) criticism and critics of education, (2) need for change in …

Beginnings (Brief History Of Sacred Heart University) Addendum, Sacred Heart University
SHU Library Archives
The experiences and activities of those who participated in making the idea of Sacred Heart University a viable institution of higher education constitute the stories behind the story. Their superhuman efforts and dedication, their willingness to give unselfishly of themselves and go to the added mile, give credence to the fact that people make institutions.
In order to record this human side of the history, interviews were held with the original administrators, apart from President Conley, original members of the faculty who were available and one of the first students and class officers (from Foreword).
The interviewer was Dr. Herbert …
