It was the purpose of this study:

  1. To review the history of the Long wood College Foundation, Incorporated , to identify appropriate patterns of procedure for the future expansion of fund -raising efforts.
  2. To identify those immediate and long -range needs of Longwood College which can only be met through private funding.
  3. To determine the types of fund -raising programs most likely to meet these needs.
  4. To involve as many of the individuals and departments of the College in the development program as possible.
  5. To initiate an immediate fund -raising program.

Assertive Training For Short-Term Psychiatric In-Patients, John P. Shethar

The purpose of this study was to examine the efficacy of assertive training with short-term psychiatric patients. The sample consisted of 36 subjects--18 males and 18 females--who were hospitalized patients at the Bernalillo County Mental Health Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Patients were asked to participate in the study upon admission, and were randomly assigned to groups of six to either of two control conditions or to an assertive training condition. The Assessment-Only control group was only administered pre- and post-tests. The Placebo Control group received ten hours of painting and drawing between the pre- and post-tests. Personality Testing By The Schools: A Possible Invasion Of Privacy, Angelika Hoyman

IUSTITIA

Contemporary critics, concerned with the maintenance of personal privacy, have termed the use of personality tests a "white glove rack and screw" . Monroe H. Freedman, Dean of Hofstra University School of Law, while testifying before a congressional subcommittee, compared the use of psychological tests to the administration of truth serums and found both to be an affront to personal dignity.

Nevertheless, the 1960's witnessed a three-fold increase in the number of school counselors employed in most schools and a nation-wide survey of these counselors indicated that at least one-third of their time was spent in dealing with the personal …
