One of the broad purposes of this study was to determine to what degree of the graduates of Fountain High School, Fountain, Colorado, have been able to cope with the economic and social conditions of life.

Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs
In meeting the problem of securing qualified teachers in the past ten years New Mexico school administrators have shown a trend toward greater use of the institutional teacher placement bureaus. It is a purpose of this report to show to what extent the University is accepting the responbility of knowing the state's occupational needs, of selecting youth according to their abilities for fulfilling the varying needs, of aiding leaders in the field in making replacements and additions, of supplying adequate and proper preparation, of placing their graduates in positions, and of providing opportunities for their continued study and preparation.

When Classroom Becomes Cafeteria, Ernest L. Muzzall
All Faculty Scholarship for the College of Education and Professional Studies
The Toppenish Junior-Senior High School has shown more than a 40 per cent increase in enrollment during the last six years, making necessary extensive alterations and additions to the main plant. Recently the school population reached a point where a minimum of two additional classrooms was necessary. A survey of school activities revealed a pressing need for space for five purposes. These included quarters for related art instruction in the vocational home economics department; a cafeteria to serve a maximum of 208 pupils; recreational space for group and class parties; a place for pupil-parent and for faculty meetings, and facilities …

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
The majority of studies of non-attendance heve dealt with the entire student body of a school system where the pupils come from many racial or national groups with different economic, social, and cultural backgrounds. In studies where the same racial group was selected the physical environment or the social or economic status of the students differed widely. A wide field of study leaves many questions unanswered or problematical. It is the purpose of the author to confine this study to one racial group.
This is a study of non-attendance in Miguel Hidalgo elementary school where 95 per cent of the …

A Study Of Pupil Elimination In The Public High Schools Of San Juan County, New Mexico, Grace Barker Wilson
Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs
In view of the current interest in the elimination of pupils from the public schools, the question arises, can the schools justify themselves in seeking to hold the pupils longer. In a close search for some authoritative statements an overwhelming amount of theory was found, but almost nothing of really concrete import.

A Study Guide For A Course In Senior High School Health, C. H. Robinson
A Study Guide For A Course In Senior High School Health, C. H. Robinson
Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs
Since the workbook is a comparatively recent development, it is advisable to give a comprehensive review of its inception, growth, and acceptance. Conservatives are inclined to look askance upon innovations in every field, and as this is particularly true in the field of education, widely differing opinions have been presented in my discussion of the problem.

A Comparative Study Of Certain Objective Factors Of The Protestant And The Public High Schools Of New Mexico, Glen F. Mccracken
Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs
The first high schools in America and in New Mexico were conducted by the churches. These high schools were pioneers in educational thought and progress until recent years. Public High schools have made much progress in New Mexico the last quarter of a century. Not only have the public high schools improved in the quality of work they are doing, but they have increased in number until there are high schools in almost every section of New Mexico. This improvement has caused many people who were at one time ardent supporters of Protestant schools to question the advisability of these …

The Work Of Personnel Deans Of Women In The Higher Educational Institutions Of New Mexico, Mabel Tracy Haggard
Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs

It is the purpose of this study (1) to record specific conditions each dean of women in a higher educational institution in New Mexico is meeting on her own campus, (2) to discover the duties more or less similar in all institutions, and (3) finally, in the light of certain standards set down …

A Survey Of The Preparatory In Spanish Of The Elementary Grade Teachers In New Mexico, Leonie Seabrook Eccles
A Survey Of The Preparatory In Spanish Of The Elementary Grade Teachers In New Mexico, Leonie Seabrook Eccles
Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs
Regardless of the merits of introducing Spanish as a second language in the elementary schools of the state, it is obvious that certain preliminary information must be gathered before one could reach a decision as to the practicability of such a move. That is, even though it should be later agreed that the program is desirable, information must be at hand in such a program; therefore, it is the purpose of this study (1) to show the academic preparation in Spanish of the elementary grade teachers in New Mexico; (2) to determine in which counties the teachers are best prepared; …
Public Ownership Versus The Contract System In School Bus Transportation, Walter Schumann
Public Ownership Versus The Contract System In School Bus Transportation, Walter Schumann
Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs
Statement of the problem. One of the items that has played a part in the increased costs of education in America is the transportation of pupils to and from school. The tendency today is to get as much service from the tax dollar as possible. It is thought, therefore, that it would be desirable to study two major types of school bus transportation with the idea of discovering which type would give the largest return for the dollar expended. The two types that will be studied are the contract type and public ownership type. The purpose of this thesis is …
